Bought this set for our 8 year old. He Loves it. He did have a few times where he messed up steps or couldn't quite figure out how a piece ( or pieces) fit together, but with some help, got them all done in about 2 days. The higher age range for this set, I believe, is due to the majority of the pieces being very tiny ones. Some are harder to snap into place than others, and may be harder for younger kids to get together. This set is really more for display than play. And not really meant to be repeatedly taken apart as most Lego sets are. Still, it comes with a mini figure of an archeologist, complete with *real* mini magnifying glass, mini tools, extra bones, a dino egg, and 'book' so the imagination can still run pretty wild with this set. The head, neck and tails of the Dino's move slightly, so you can reposition them in slightly different ways. Overall, a great set for a dino / Lego lover. Read more

I ordered this for my grandson's 10th birthday. My daughter and I discussed whether this was a set too advanced for a 10 year old, but decided that my son-in-law would enjoy helping my grandson assemble this more advanced set. Well, my grandson had 2 of the 3 completed on his own by the end of the day and he finished the third the next day after school. He was very pleased with the set and wants to pursue other Lego IDEA offerings. If you are buying this for a youngster who reads well, you will be successful. The instruction booklets provide clear directions. Read more

This was a fun little set to build, with no overly difficult spots (I did find the ribs for the Triceratops and T-Rex to be a little on the finicky side though). Construction is pretty straightforward, building the 3 dinos from the bottom up, finishing with the heads and tails. One big thing to note is that these are primarily display pieces. The points of articulation in the dinos is primarily limited to the heads and tails. The legs are part of the bases and cannot move, so if you wanted to pose them into an epic fight, you're a bit out of luck. I will also say that the box came in perfect condition, but that's a moot point as these reviews are supposed to be about the product, not the shipping practices of Amazon and their associates. I'm not big into dinosaurs. However looking for indoor activities to do, this was great. Plus compared to some other Legos, the cost per Lego or cost per minute of assembly was well worth it. Although parts too small for my children solo building, they had fun helping, but this isn't a plaything for children. One piece holding the T-Rex tail to the body was loose fitting and so the tail falls off easily, but 1 piece out of almost 1,000 isn't bad at all. Read more

My 7 year old built this with practically no supervision, no help, and loved every minute of it. Over the span of 6 hours with small breaks my son was able to complete this entire kit without issue. It's super cute, but I suggest buying a Lego baseplate. Amazon has a grey 10" by 15" one for a reasonable price that made this set of four boned structures, a mini figure, and a tool chest into a museum. Super cute. Read more

I enjoy building lego creatures rather than buildings and such. These were so fun. A few parts i almost lost my mind over. And I’m still afraid it’s gonna just pop and pieces will fly everywhere but i wish i had the exact same set to build again just ... different. Challenging. Looks soooo cool and again fragile. My T. rex is fierce Read more
