I had been eyeing this set for over a year, and finally decided to purchase when it went on sale. I'm glad I did. It's easily one of the most detailed and interesting sets I've ever put together, and I've been building with Lego for over 35 years. As fun as this set is for play (it opens, it has four minifigs, and it's got a lot for them to "do"), it's also a beautiful display piece, and extremely satisfying to put together and build. There are little secrets and details throughout the build - stuff you'll probably never see if you're just looking at the set, but are there for the person putting it together. It's also very, very different from almost all other sets I've built (both normal sets and Idea sets) - there are a lot of "just a little offset" (on purpose) bricks, and a "messy" look that obviously took a long time to design and perfect. It took me a little over 5 hours to build, but it's now on display at work so I can look at it every day. Absolutely worth the money for anyone into Lego or model building in general. Read more

This is in my opinion the best set ever. It has so many little details that I can't even point it all out. I mean, was there any sets with realistic carpet designs? This is supposed to be a really old fishing store owned by this guy called Anton, and every part of it is great. There is also so many unique parts and cool stickers! (3 seagulls, a CUTE CAT, harpoons, hooks, a telescope, a TNT, and everything. I can guarentee you this set has almost every thing you can think of.) The rocks at the bottom of the store makes it even more realistic. I am saying, this set just included all the features of a real old fishing store should have. Through it would have been better if it had a little boat. The price is good enough, too(I guess because I was already so obsessed with this set even before it was released)So, if you are looking forward to buying this set, I highly reccomend you! Read more

I usually don't bother reviewing products that are so solidly into the 5-star rating. I can't stop myself this time. This is an amazing lego set. It's usually hard to imagine or produce a lego set that looks worn and lived in. They're usually rather sterile looking. The tricks that they used to make this look chaotic and ad-hoc also contribute to a really fun build. The minifigs aren't anything to write home about except perhaps the captain's hat and sweater but there are a LOT of flavor/unique pieces like the crabs, lobsters, seagulls, wood panels, etc. My only tiny tiny complaint is that, from some sides, this looks like it's expected to have a boat next to it but there's not really logically a place where this building could be close to water because the lower entrance is very very low. It seems like it would be below the "waterline". I guess I could have done with some lines for some of the fishing poles. Read more

I got this set for my husband for Xmas. It's absolutely fantastic! The construction is really fun and challenging. It took good 5-6hrs. The set uses a range of interesting building techniques. The detail is amazing. I was building the Ninjago Destiny's Bounty at the same time, which has an insane amount of detail but I think this one has even more. The playability is also very high, there's a wide range of items for the minifigs. I love the ageless feel of this set. It fits our Ninjago and City Jungle rescue builds perfectly. I know this was designed by RobenAnne, a LEGO fan, and he's got a few other models he's entered the IDEAS contest, notably the Lightouse. LEGO, if you're reading it, get that set in as well!!! We got this lego set for Christmas and love it. It was really fun to put together and is pretty sturdy. There are several parts that easily come apart so that those playing with it can place mini figures inside. The tower has two parts that come off and can be replaced easily. The roof also easily comes off and the back swings open. We love the seagulls, cat, crabs and lobsters. It also comes with many accessories that are just cool such as nets, fishing poles, tools, anchors and others. This set has been one of my son's favorites and he still plays with it often. I wish Lego would make more of this IDEA creators stuff. It's awesome. Exceptional level of detail, sturdy, and loads of fun to build and play with. I have had both children and adults (including myself) who have had a great time playing with the set. Yes it costs a pretty penny but it's not a small set. A good purchase for any collector and a good set to save up for if you are a young one. Read more

I really enjoyed the idea for the design. Super impressed as always with the engineering that goes with making these sets. Looks great and was challenging enough to finish. It took me approx 7 hours to complete. There may be a misprint in the instruction booklet (a friend had the same issue) as to a couple of pieces (no effect on structure or aesthetic) but the pieces you are given are the same size and 99% of somewhat Lego experienced builders could figure it out. Our set was delivered in it's original packaging with shipping labels stuck to it. The box was also damaged. We finally opened the set to start building recently and found the main base plate missing, no instruction booklet nor stickers. Had to spend an additional $12 for a base plate to start the build. If your sets arrive without a protective box, make sure you open and inspect it IMMEDIATELY, don't wait like we did. Read more
