Briefly I will share how our family is using the Lego/MC Crafting Box: first, we bought in one purchase The First Night, The Farm and The Cave. The entire current 6-set wave of Lego/MC mini-figure scale theme has a true Lego/MC "signature" spirit of build-according-to-instructions/do-your-own-thing/tear down/rebuild, etc. Yet, we found the three sets just mentioned to be perfect as per instructions and don't particularly want to alter them. This is where the Crafting Box comes in: it perfectly allows for MOCs (my own creations)--and just as perfectly compliments and extends any other sets . I am not sure we will be getting the two remaining sets in this wave (The Mine and The End)--they are the most expensive, for one thing; we may instead choose to spend the money on a total of three Crafting Box sets, which when combined with the First Night, The Farm and The Cave will exponentially increase the building possibilities to the point where they will nearly rival the "real" Minecraft, i.e. the video game. Endless Possibilities! Best bang for your buck! This crafting box comes with a good selection of lego blocks to make your own custom minecraft lego inspired creations. A must have for any minecraft fan. I also have the first night and the cave lego minecraft sets but this the best by far. You get a little of everything and can create just about whatever you want. I still haven't used all the pieces yet! I also really like the booklet that comes with it to help inspire creations because it has so many things you can build and also just make your own stuff. Great gift for any age. Read more

My son had been saving his money to purchase a Lego Minecraft set. After at least an hour of research, he finally decided on this one. He asked me to track it several times a day, and was extremely excited when it finally arrived. It has lots of pieces for hours of building Lego/Minecraft style. I love that it came with an instruction booklet with 8 different projects. This will keep him entertained for a very long time. I highly recommend this set for any Lego fan who is also a fan of Minecraft. Ours came with a poster that has a Lego/Minecraft scene on one side, and a block translator on the other side. Read more

nice assortment of pieces and is a great gift idea for lego lovers. A throw back to the days before 'kits' when kids could use their imagination to build something. The LEGO kits are amazing and sophisticated and my son loves building them however, once the kit is built, he usually does not disassemble it. So, it's nice to have a set of bricks devoted just for making little things that he could readily take apart to build something new. Thanks, LEGO for continuing to make fine products. Read more

I first purchased the other 3 cheaper sets "the cave/the farm/the first night" all of which I really liked. I was craving more LEGO Minecraft so I got "the crafting box" and I am so happy that I did. Having built the other sets first I was already familiar with how LEGO was using certain blocks to represent specific elements from the game - this made creating a set out of the crafting box a more rewarding experience I am thrilled with how my model came out. My recommendation would be to purchase one of the other sets I mentioned in addition to "the crafting box" because by itself the set is missing some mobs that really complete the Minecraft look. Personally I would recommend getting "the Farm" or "the First Night" in addition to this set. Finally be sure to check the prices here against the Lego shop at home website - I have noticed that the Amazon 3rd party seller prices are sometimes double or triple what the price from Lego. Convinced that no matter how many Legos come in a set it Always seems like half the amount inside lol. Set was fun. We build two of the items suggested then made some spontaneous things. Doesn't play with this much and it's only been a month. Does come with an amazing assortment and the packaging is perfect. The schematic can be tricky. There's some strange numbering system that I'm not used to seeing in the schematic books Read more

If you have boys between the ages of 2 and 100, I would imagine that you will be introduced to Minecraft at some point along the way. This LEGO set was a gift for my son. Amazon always beats the shelf prices locally for my family. The product was just as advertised and LEGO is great about their instructions for assembly. Not that it is always easy, especially if you are color blind like myself. But they individually wrap each section to be built and that is extremely helpful. Read more
