One of the better sets for action and CONTINUED play

John A.April 22, 2015✓ Verified purchase

One of the better sets for action and CONTINUED play. Allow me to be so bold as to declare that my 7yo son is a Lego master. Also, we spoil him when it comes to Lego's (i.e., we'd much rather see him spending his hours building Lego's, than playing video games, etc.). He completes sets by himself that are way, way above his age and way above most of his friends ability to do them. Then, instead of tearing them apart and dumping them in a bin like many do, he instead likes to immediately put them on display on his bookshelves. He wants Santa to bring him the 14+ Death Star for Christmas. You get the picture. So it is with that as background that I say that this particular set was a huge success. Although he has many of the Star Wars sets and a few Ninjago sets, it is this set that stands above as a "playground" like set that he continues to use as a basis around which his imagination runs wild. It doesn't matter if you are familiar with Ninjago (although I'm sure that helps), for all intents and purposes, this is a castle under siege, with moving parts (cauldrons, shooters) for the defenders to defend with and a set of bad guys with impressive siege abilities of their own. So much fun. He loves the Star Wars sets as well, but most of those are ships (that fly through space) and don't lend themselves (creatively) as well to playing with on a play table for prolonged periods. In short, I'm so glad I bought this set one week when he was home sick from school, it's become the center piece of his imagine play, although I'm afraid I may have made him more hopeful that he'll get sick in the near future. I Have Taken Refuge At The Temple Of Fortitude

Ace oneApril 14, 2016✓ Verified purchase

The latest and greatest temple is here! The temple of fortitude (as it was called) is a large and amazing set with great oriental detailing. Many things shoot in this set: discs fire under the dragon head, a cannon shoots from under the roof, and catapults fire on the sides of the head. There's so much stuff to say about this set so I'm going to use pros and cons: Pros: large, fires many things, spinning rock walls at the base, large prison, minifig launch feature, detailing, tech room, new rice paper prints, minifigs Cons: Zipline (got a knot in it), things are scaled small to make the building look bigger, not a lot of space unfortunately, overlord vehicle is clunky and I don't like the design I hope the pros and cons helped a little but if I tried to type every last thing in this set, this review would be 10 pages long! I've had a lot of fun playing with this set and the pieces used have helped with my custom creations. I would certainly recommend this set as the good outweighs the bad and there's a lot of fun packed in "The Battle For Ninjago City." Read more

Great set. Lots of cool features and details. My sons ( 8&6 ) love it and play with it all the time. It was even dropped on hardwood once and broke into many pieces but stayed together well enough for my 8 year old to put it back together by himself, without instructions. I was very grateful for the solid construction and that I didn't have to spend hours with him rebuilding it, as has been the case with some of our Star Wars ships that have met a similar fate. This is a fun set for a Ninjago fan. Read more

My son absolutely loved it and we were happy that we were able to give it to him for Christmas. It is really big so finding a place to put it once it was together was an issue, but other than that it was a success. I just wish they weren't so expensive and that we were able to buy more of them for our children. Legos are good not just because they are a toy, but it gives them something else to do besides the TV. It teaches them to read directions, and develope patiencen in order to put them together as well as using their imaginations. Read more

Great Temple, Not So Great Price

Taylor FlanaganJanuary 24, 2015✓ Verified purchase

I picked this up pretty recently. The build was fun and the minifigs are all fabulous (with the exception of Jay, as his figure is the same as it appeared in previous sets). That being said, the RRP of $119.99 is a little steep, and I feel like the temple itself was just a little too insubstantial to warrant such a high price. The Fire Temple from 2011 felt like a much better deal, and it was the same price. Pick this up if you're a fan of Ninjago or Asian architecture, but try to find it on sale. Read more

Great set

My 7 year old nephew enjoyed building this set while we were on vacation at the beach. It was a good nighttime activity for him and kept him from being bored. I've never seen him patiently build a set as he did with this one. It was a good buy. Read more

Wonderfully Surprised

Lynnda EllJuly 17, 2014✓ Verified purchase

My grandsons introduced me to Legos Ninjagos during a recent visit. My daughter and I spent several hours putting the kit together. The boys, ages 8 and 5 played with the smaller pieces while their mother and I assembled the larger ones. I had no expectations for the kit, although the number of pieces was rather daunting. I will readily admit that I was impressed. The instructions were the best and clearest I've seen. I am an engineer and project manager. Including all the instructions I've seen in my career, these were by far the best. Not one of the pieces were outside the tolerances needed for quick assembly. The ball joints, sockets, hinges and click-lock attachments gave the larger assemblies movement and flexibility. I can think of no child who wouldn't enjoy playing with any of Legos imagination play kits. A new one will definitely be on my buying list for Christmas. Read more
