LEGO Ninjago The Complete First Season DVD

The Lego folks have hit it out of the park with this fun series based on their new series of Ninja toys. There are fun references in the shows for adults to laugh at, but the stories appeal to children also. In fact both my four year old daughter and my eight year old son are in love with Spinjitsu and act out stories set in the world during play time. This DVD set contains all the episodes of Ninjago Season 1. My 5 and 6-year-old sons are glued. They can't get enough. It's action-packed, but "clean;" no blood, no realistic violence, no bad language... all the things that all-too-often plague boys' "entertainment" these days. There are good messages of teamwork and doing good, too. There is no rooting for the bad guys here. I highly recommend this DVD for those with little guys. With 13 episodes this is one of the best sets to take on car trips for my kids. They love everything about Ninjago. And I can actually watch the story and not want to wear earmuffs and a blindfold while they watch it. The story is interesting with a little bit of gross-out factor from the skeletons that a lot of kids like. There are good lessons learned. Some of the characters are truly good and others are learning to be good. For me it kind of hits all the buttons for a decent kids show, where it's obvious the good guys are trying to do the right thing, even when emotions get involved and they don't always get it right. If you can't get stories with violence in it for your kids, you'll have to skip this one. Because although the violence is mild, some of the characters do "fall apart" just like regular Lego minifigures can. Read more

My kids love Lego Ninjago. We have bought almost all of the books and they have read them over and over. They have several sets and they spend hours playing with them (and eyeing new sets!). When my son was about to turn eight, I saw this this product online and was really excited to get it for him for his birthday; I knew he would love it. We had never seen any of the episodes, and I wish I would have watched some first. My kids - they love them. As a mom, I don't like some of the humor and overtones. There are things that are rude or mean used as humor. There is disrespect and complaining to their sensei. Jay whines about losing the high scores on his video games like it is the end of the world. The first time we watched it I was just cringing in parts and feeling like I wanted it to be the first time and last time they watched it. It isn't over the top terrible, just has enough things that I do not want my children adopting to concern me. Kids are so influenced by media, especially if it is something they love and think is so cool. I discussed with them portions that concern me and that I don't want to see them imitating, so hopefully it will be all right. The animation is high quality, the opening music is really upbeat and fun, and the kids sure love it. Probably most people interested in buying this have already watched some of them, but if you haven't seen the episodes and are selective about what you have your kids watch I would see if you can watch some episodes online or borrow from a friend before buying. Keeps my 4 year old busy for hours. He has always loved the Ninjago series since it first appeared on television, so naturally he loved the first season dvd. I have watched every episode with him at least once, and approve 100% of this show. This is something I enjoy watching! I'm so happy to finally get this on dvd!! Good price and I got free shipping for buying both season 1 and 2 at the same time! I grew up playing with Lego's, I'm a 16 year old girl and I love this show! I have no shame! Great story, kinda reminds me of Star Wars, I love the characters and all the action. funny, I got the first two episodes a while ago, good thing too because they're not on this dvd, you might want to put that in somewhere, its a little misleading. Purchased for a 4 year old and 6 year old boy. They love it. Sing to the song and dance at the opening. "Spin". They imitate the characters moves and enjoy watching the show. Nice story line. Be prepared to purchase the Lego characters and toys associated with the series. Overall great buy. Read more
