Having just come out of the Dark Ages, I decided to get this set since it includes my favorite heroes from 'The Avengers'. All of the minifigures are spectacular, with printing on both sides of the torso and double-sided faces. The quality and detail of the LEGO minifigure have vastly improved in recent years. This set features Thor, Iron Man, Loki, an alien soldier, and the exclusive Black Widow. The actual aircraft, while not the most memorable vehicle in the film, is impressive enough in LEGO form. It is sturdily constructed and has a smooth section underneath that you can hold while playing with the jet so it won't fall apart. The tips can be oriented whichever way you like, although they move easily, so they'll likely look asymmetric after play. Still, they can always be adjusted, so this isn't really an issue. The cockpit and passenger area are sufficiently furnished, and roomy enough to house Black Widow, Thor, and Iron Man. The aft of the jet features a loading ramp and rear compartment. There is also a panel atop the fuselage that opens, although it cannot be sealed, so any time the jet flies upside-down it will flap open. The only aspect of this set that I dislike is the 'capture mechanism', which is an amalgam of technic rods in the heart of the jet. There is a button on top of the jet that, when pressed, lowers the mechanism and exposes a platform that can go capture a villain. This feature is absent from the movie, and I suspect it exists solely to add play value. However, I find it to detract from the ship, as the button release hardly works for me, and the colors of the 'mechanism' do not match at all with those of the jet. I would rather the designers had included additional cargo or passenger space. Alas, that minor qualm should not detract from an otherwise superb construction set. The mechanism can be left in the bowels of the craft and out of sight, so it's not a problem. The Quinjet is surprisingly large and is as enjoyable to play with as it is to display. The stickers, although annoying, are easy enough to put on. Construction of the set took about three hours. The chariot that Loki rides on is fine, although it's not the main attraction, and it doesn't seem like it could even put up much of a fight against the mighty Quinjet. Read more

Boy, i'm 20 years old now and i've had LEGOs for as long as I can remember. I'm overly excited about the new Avengers sets. As a major comic book fan I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. I got it in the mail today (as well as two other sets) and built this one straight off. The ship took a long time to build. It's a pretty decent amount of pieces and took my brother and I about an hour and a half to put together fully, once it's together it's gorgeous. A very nice replica of the ship from the movie with tons of little compartments for characters and vehicles. There's also a main cockpit and a secondary cockpit for other agents or avengers. The wings fold into all different combination to make the ship fly in unique directions. The characters are all really well made and fit perfectly with the set. All around a great product for ALL AGES to enjoy! Read more

We gave this to our son for his 9th birthday and he loved it. Our kids are huge lego fans and this did not disappoint. It has incredible details and particularly of note is the solid construction. After being built it has held up well in play and battles because of this strong foundation. The characters and mechanical details are wonderful. Our other son recently received the LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter 9493 for his birthday- this was a great lego construction but with the narrow long wings and mechanism to open the wings it has been much more fragile... more something to admire and less something to play with. This was a great toy for my 8 year olds birthday! It took him hours to fully put it together but he loves Avengers and Legos so it was a perfect gift. I would say make sure you keep the Legos in the separate bags until they're needed and you've gotten to that step. My son took them ALL out of the bag which made it harder. Also, the age recommendation on the bag is pretty spot on. I don't think kids younger than 8 could figure it out as easily, unless they're really good at Legos. :) I got this for $53 plus free shipping, which is $17 cheaper than the store. It's worth it! Great toy! My son loves legos and this set is definitely a hit. He had a great time putting it together and is now enjoying playing with it. It stays together really well after it is put together. Some of the Star Wars planes tend to fall apart. This one has held together well so far:)We have amazon prime and so it shipped out and arrived the morning of the second day! great service! love amazon:) Read more

My 10 year old is a LEGO maniac! He asked for several sets a year. Last Christmas he asked for this set and I was skeptical as it has several hundred pieces. Did I mention I ordered it on 12/22 because I forgot to order sooner?? I was so nervous that it would not be here on time. I was overjoyed when it arrived on 12/23 and I do not have prime?? It was supposed to arrive at 8pm on 12/24; however the sender got it here much earlier. That was a blessing! Fast forward to Christmas, my son opened it and everything was as expected. My son went into his room and put that Quinjet together over the course of a few hours. He was so happy and so was I. Read more

I bought this brand new, and when I got the set out of packaging it was completely covered in shrink rap. The box was still sealed but the listing for the product said nothing about the shrink rap as far as I know. Everything was still there but the box does not look pretty. Kinda disappointed. Read more

I used this as a cake-topper/present for my daughter's 9th birthday. Instructions for assembly were easy to follow and only took me about 15 min to assemble. I think a 10 - 12 year old with patience and love for legos would have no problem putting this together with all the visual instructions provided. It's been a year and she still loves playing with this set. Read more
