Every year, we purchase a Lego Advent Calendar for our three kids. We've never been disappointed in one yet. Like all Advent Calendars, this one is made up of 24 doors and behind each door is a surprise: in this case, a small Lego model. The models vary from ships to minifigures to accessories and are simple to assemble. After the holidays, the Legos are added to the kids' bins of Legos. We only get one calendar for the whole family, so the kids have to take turns (always good to find ways to make them practice patience). This kind of Advent Calendar is great for any Lego fan. While the Star Wars version is fun, we've enjoyed other themes as well. It's become a family tradition to start December with a Lego Advent Calendar and is one of the things we all look forward to each year. We've never had a problem with missing pieces and repetition of models isn't an issue either. Read more

Yes. It's a lot of money for an advent calendar when you consider that you can get a calendar full of chocolate for $1.99. BUT! It's Lego and Star Wars so it's worth it (to us). My boys love, love, love this calendar. This is the second year we've gotten it. My kids (and my husband!) look forward to opening the doors every day and building the ship or the guy... It's just fun. I don't know what else to say. It's FUN! Read more

I ordered this product from Amazon on Sunday, and it arrived today. The box is the SAME size as last year, the set contains 32 LESS pieces as last year, yet it costs $10 MORE than last year. A very poor combination without a doubt (especially given that last year's Star Wars Advent Calendar didn't sell very well and was available on clearance just about everywhere after the holidays). But, in spite of that I couldn't risk not having a copy of what is otherwise a very cool Lego set in my collection. I had a blast opening mine last year, and am looking very forward to opening this one this year. Next I'm going to list the set contents, so please skip the next two paragraphs if you want to be surprised. But, since most of this info is available in the Amazon photos or easily obtainable online, I thought I'd also provide it hear for those who are interested. Note, I purposefully list everything in alphabetical (and not chronological) order so as not to spoil the surprise too much. Not to mention the fact that I'm waiting to open mine and don't even know the order of appearance myself at this point. Depending on how/what you count, the set includes nine mini figures. The obvious appeal of this new set are the two exclusive Santa Darth Maul and Snowman R2-D2 figures. On top of that you also get Gungan Warrior, Hoth Rebel Trooper, Imperial Officer (Hoth), Rebel Trooper, Snowtrooper, Security Battle Droid, and Super Battle Droid. Other surprises include: AT-AT Walker, Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator, General Grievous' Starfighter, Gonk Power Droid (may also count as a mini figure to some), Gungan Shield Set, Gungan Submarine, Guns and Lightsaber, MTT, Naboo Flash Speeder, Naboo Royal Cruiser, Naboo Starfighter, P-Tower Turret, Separatist Shuttle/The Lapiz Cutter, Super Star Destoyer, and Vulture Droid. So, there seems to be a bit more of a focus on the prequel this year, but still a sufficient amount of original trilogy stuff to keep just about everyone happy. And, while a few of the models leave a little to be desired, I also impressed at how well Lego is able to make a good representation of many of these items with so few pieces. I agree that $49.99 is a very expensive price tag for this set (it make so little sense it almost seems like it could be a mistake). And, I hope for everyone's sake that it comes down before they run out (preferably before the holidays, but even after would be fine if everyone who wants one is able to get one). But, like I said earlier, I had so much fun opening mine last year I decided to splurge and buy at least one copy of this year's Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar to be safe. Read more

Each day you get a little part of something, but its hard to tell what you are getting. My son spent a lot of time looking up the parts on the lego site and said some are hard to tell what part it is. I think if I am going to spend this much money I would want the items in each day to either connect to the next day or to be complete for that day. It would have been better to have mini figures or tiny complete vehicles like they sell in the packs in the store. I got the mega block smurf one for my daughter who is much younger... and at least those are 1 complete item in each day... like the pieces to make a small tree... or a smurf... Either that or they are part of something that is obvious like a wall of a building. It comes with a picture so she knows what its for and hints that another portion is soon to come. For lego..this is kind of a rip off especially for my son who is a lego fanatic. Read more

Gave this to my 8 year old and am sitting here looking at what he's opened after day 7 and I can tell you it looks like a few pieces that have been lost from other sets. I blasted my wife for spending that much money on this empty box!!!! Lego should be ashamed of themselves! Rip Off. we have quite a few lego sets around here - including the millenium falcon with 1254 pc. this one has a mere 254 and they are tiny - many are single post pieces. blah, have to quite thinking about it! We have a 4 year old Star Wars LEGO fanatic. He LIVES for Star Wars LEGOS, LEGO video games, clothing...you name it. We bought him his first LEGO CITY Advent calendar last year which was a huge hit. When we saw the Star Wars version, we were ecstatic. The excitement turned to disappointment with the poor build opportunities offered in the box this year. My son had no clue what ships he is building based on his expertise with all things Star Wars LEGOS. At first I told him that they must be a part of a bigger ship, but then noticed on the box that it really was just a couple pieces of LEGOS that "kind of" looked like a ship with the graphics on the box. He is so bored that he doesn't even play with what he put together. I am hoping the Darth Maul Santa will cheer him up. I also hope that LEGO rethinks the calendars for next year. For $40-50, I expect A LOT more and so does their number one fan! Read more
