This works well for mixing sausage. I used it for two batches last wee, each batch being around 12 - 13 pounds and it was fast. Make sure and reverse the direction you turn the handle once in awhile and you'll be done in just a few minutes. It's a pain to clean. Not only is it big but it has this coating on it that doesn't allow a warm soapy sponge to easily glide over it. Honestly if you only plan on making sausage 10 pounds at a time, I'd consider just doing it by hand (hands stay warm using this mixer though). Read more

Works as intended and does a good job mixing the burger/sausage meat very well. Also great that you have no more frozen fingers when trying to do this this by hand. Well made and should last a long, long time! Read more

I made 19 Lbs of Italian-style meatballs with this item. It did an excellent job of mixing my spices into the chilled, ground pork. The meatballs are delicious! The last time I made meatballs I mixed the pork and spices with my hands in a large steam tray and about gave myself frostbite. This mixer prevents that. The handle was a bit hard to turn due to the volume of meat and it's cold temperature, but that is to be expected on a direct-drive hand crank. 20 Lbs would be the absolute max amount of ground meat you could put into this thing unless you have biceps like a bodybuilder. For best mixing, don't forget to reverse the handle rotation direction every 2-3 cranks. Slowly Sprinkle your spices over the meat mixture between cranks. It is harder to get an even mix if you dump them in all at once... Ask me how I know. Initial assembly was a head-scratcher until I figured out that the knob on the opposite end of the crank has to be pulled out and not twisted to allow installation of the rotor into the housing. Cleanup was easy as the housing fits into a standard kitchen sink. I am going to try making sausages with the item next time. Read more

Works best if you turn counter clockwise but becomes difficult the way the blades are angled. I found 4-5 turns clock wise after counter clockwise rotation of 6-7 turns seams to get me to a tacky stage fairly quick. Only going in the clockwise direction you will never get a good mix. Not really good for less than 10 pounds of meat nor more than 15 pounds. If you go by the 20 pound that's capacity not product. If you read instructions I recall its 16-17 pounds max.? No sharp edges on mine, would have been nice if they welded inside connections, takes a really good stiff brush to get that 90 clean. If it was welded in could have been filleted and made cleaning a breeze. Read more

This thing mixes meat. Does a good job. No real issues. I did feel like it was a little cumbersome to clean, but it wasn't impossible. Did its job well. Read more

It mixes well. My hands get cold mixing sausage and I have other LEM products, which I love. It took at least 30 minutes to clean just the blades and to be honest, I'll probably clean it again because I'm not sure that I got in every single nook and cranny. It didn't wipe off easily either even on the sides and after soaking. Cleaning the blades was even worse. It's ground pork. It's fatty and it sticks on everything. Should that surprise me? Maybe not. I just don't know if it's worth it. I'm disappointed. It's LEM and I just expected a better product. After cleaning and soaking and cleaning and soaking the base, I changed my opinion and knocked this down from 3 stars to 1 star. I thought the blades would be the only difficult thing to clean. It says it's stainless steel but it doesn't clean like any stainless steel I've used. Someone mentioned a coating? No idea, but not counting soaking time, I spent an hour cleaning this. I used hot soapy water, rag, soft scrubbie, a brush, and mostly my fingernails to get in the corners. 2 broken nails later, I'm still not satisfied with it. I'm returning it. I'll wear warm gloves with rubber gloves over them and mix it myself. Read more

This is the meat mixer I wanted. I researched a lot of brands of meat mixers. I have a LEM jerky gun I have used for years that I am very happy with. This mixer is the same quality build as my Lem jerky gun. It is a solid mixer that is worth the price. It has thick gauge metal components and is well built. I would recommend it. Read more
