I've never had compression socks before so maybe I was expecting more than these were supposed to have. They feel snug but not overly tight. I do like how thick they are & warm because they are actual wool. They have held up well in regular laundry & hanging to dry. They do slide down my legs a little but don't roll which is good. I'm guessing because my legs are smaller that is why they aren't super tight or compressive & why they do fall down some. If you had larger calves or legs in general they might work better for you. I ordered these to relieve swelling and for walking and they work like a champ. The wool blend fabric is not only extremely soft, but thick and durable. On cold walks, they provide warmth under my leggings. They are very comfortable. I ordered the S-M as I have a narrow calf (12.5") and they fit perfectly. I did have some difficulty getting them on at first as I am accustomed to wearing compression leg sleeves and not full socks. Just received my order of these compression knee-hi's and immediately put one pair on. They are wonderful, so nice and cozy while it is damp and cold outside. Ordered the medium-large for my long but skinny feet and they fit perfectly with enough room in the toes and heel to cover the feet nicely and comfortably. Not tight-fitting with toes bunched up and a heel somewhere under my arch as in many other compression socks I tried ( which were much more expensive) and a wonderful cuff which hugs your leg just enough to be snug in a very comfortable way. Very excellent quality for the price and I am so happy to have ordered these thick, merino knee-hi's in black, beige and grey. Waiting for the 2 black pairs to arrive soon and will order more in taupe. Very pleased as these socks keep my legs from swelling and are a joy to wear.
