The shorts include belt loops, but a belt is somewhat optional given the elastic waist band. I have found that I do not need one. The button is actually a metal clasp that relies on tension to remain connected. Would have preferred an actual button, but so far it has not come undone during physical activities. The shorts do not include back pockets, however they make up for that by having Velcro closed cargo pockets on each leg. There is also a side zipped pocket on the left leg. It has about half the interior space of the cargo pockets. The front pockets are deep and easily hold a cell phone or wallet. Because the material is not thick, the cargo shorts avoid feeling bulky. However the light material does mean that anything large placed in a pocket creates a noticeable bulge and makes the shorts feel unbalanced. The shorts have the appearance of higher end hiking shorts. The exterior stitching is doubled along all seams and the interior stitching looks substantial. Nice shorts with accurate fit and nice lines. Laundered well with no shrinkage. Comfy to wear and look nice enough to wear to golf in the morning and casual dinner or barbecue in the evening. I think the price is competitive with the big box stores, but I might wait for a sale to buy another one. I think if it came down even a few bucks, it would be an excellent value. The shorts are really comfortable. I have been wearing them when I get home from work around the house. The fabric feels like it will repel water, it’s kinda plasticie feeling. They are a true size so no need to buy them big or small. My only complaint ,because I am older and don’t really care what’s in style, is that they are shorter than what I like to wear in public. I personally like shorts that go to my knees and these are a little shy of that. But that being said people are wearing shorts that are shorter than when I was younger. Only thing that feels kinda cheap in the clip instead of a button. Read more

I had high hopes for these based on the features, but the execution is lacking. The material feels substandard and stiff, almost like paper rather than a performance fabric. It’s not soft or comfortable against the skin at all. Additionally, the cut is very blocky and unflattering—it just doesn't drape or move well.
