I'm in love. You got a new diehard Little Donkey fan. Waterproof - We were swimming at a waterfall in GA when it started pouring rain and we had to quickly hike back before our stuff got soaked. I was drenched and freezing! The moment I put this jacket on, I felt warm and shielded from the rain. It didn't stick to me- it was breathing. It kept me dry the rest of the day. Weight - I was skeptical that this jacket was actually lightweight. It looks too bulky to be lightweight. Sure enough, I picked it up and it was light as a feather. Shocked. It also rolls up and packs up nice and neat into the hood so I can store it in the brain of my pack. Style/fit - I'm a mighty 5' 3" and 120lbs lady and normally I wear a small but I love baggy clothes especially jackets. I ordered a medium and I would say it was the perfect amount of baggy. I could probably wear a chunky sweater underneath and still feel like I can move around. Now, this jacket is stylish. I love that you can put the hood away. Even with the hood out you still get that collared look. The cut is beautiful. Even though I wear it baggy, it creates a pleasing silhouette that accentuates the curves of a woman's body. Very cool. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is I was REALLY sad that I ordered the mosaic blue because it looks kind of teal in the picture. My favorite color. But IRL it's just navy. Fits very well. The seams and material seem sturdy. My LLBean jackets are mediums, and the M in this coat was perfect. The color is a good neutral variation to blue or military like green. Read more
The Medium fits like a Medium should fit. I bought the red jacket with the black zippered pocket on the chest and 2 pockets at the side seam. The pockets are perfect size, just wish there were interior pockets as well. It's a really beautiful deep shade of red, not bright or flashy fire engine red. The fabric is quite stiff and noisy. You won't sneak up on anyone wearing this jacket. Unfortunately the manufacturer says to hand wash only so I don't think it's going to soften much with washing, but maybe with use. This is not your typical boxy rain jacket. It has a nice gentle curve at the side seam so if you want to wear layers underneath you'll definitely want to size up. The zippers are a little tough to slide, I just hope they hold up over time. There are extensive 2-way zippers under the arm pits for cooling. Be aware that the zipper pulls have cords hanging from them for easy access. It was somewhat bothersome to have the cords hang directly under my arm pit but they aren't as noticeable if pulled to one side of the zipper or the other. You could remove the cords if it suits you better but it may be harder to find the zipper pull. I wish the hood was removable. Would love to know if anyone has a way of rolling up the hood and tucking it out of the way when not in use. It doesn't lay flat against my back and feels cumbersome because it's stiff and sticks out. While the jacket doesn't weigh much, I thought it would be more lightweight than it actually is. Living in SoCal, I need a waterproof windbreaker rather than a rain jacket. Regardless, it's a nice jacket so I'll keep it for trips to cooler climates. Read more
This is a really nice rain jacket. I wore this while hiking in Montana when it rained this jacket kept me dry and warm. It is easy to fold up and stuff in your backpack we not needed. I ordered the brown and it’s a really pretty color. Read more
I'm very pleased with this rain jacket! I did a lot of research before choosing this product and I'm glad I did. Great features and thoughtful touches I really like include the following: - It's a lightweight shell, so I can wear it in the late spring and summer as well. Really - there is no filler so you have to wear layers during colder weather. - I tried both the Large and Medium and kept the Large because the Medium felt too uncomfortably tight. I'm 5'4" with a 37" bust and 37" hips, which is why I had initially ordered the Medium based on the sizing chart. However, the Large feels much much more comfortable without seeming baggy, especially around the bottom hem. (I'm wearing a thin shirt and sweater underneath in both photos.) I could've been OK with the Medium size because it didn't restrict my movement, but I'm glad I was able to return it. As the photos show, the two sizes don't look substantially different, though. - It has three pockets (yay): one on the inside and two side slit pockets on the outside. They are all zippered (yay). The outside pockets have vertical openings, but they drop down into a well so I worry less about items falling out. - There's a drawstring around the bottom hem and the hood, as well as velcro fasteners around the wrist areas to tighten those openings around your body. - The jacket has an interesting feature I've never seen before and like: you can tuck in the hood into the collar and fasten that collar closed with velcro. So the hood is not removable but you can tuck it away. I uploaded a photo of that tucking in process partly in progress. - I ordered the bright blue jacket so that it's easier for drivers on the road to see me when it's dark and raining. It's a tasteful bright blue hue rather than a garish one. (The interior lining is red.) Overall it feels like a high quality jacket, and the price is fantastic, especially given all these features.
