I got this mouse, along with the Logitech K750 solar keyboard, for my Macbook Pro. For the first time in almost 2 years, I'm starting to use an external monitor again at work with it, and so want the macbook pro farther back, even with my monitor. I'd been using a USB mac keyboard and a Microsoft Arc mouse, but was getting tired of the USB ports being filled up, and having to unplug and replug all the time. So I did some research here at Amazon, and found the unifying peripherals from Logitech, and figured I'd give it a try. My mistake at first after opening them up was to assume they'd both work, since they're universal and unified... The keyboard worked, the mouse didn't. Some digging online turned up that to share the receiver, you have to install the unifying software first. So swapped the USB receiver so the mouse worked, got online to Logitech, and downloaded both the logitech software as well as the unifying driver. That was all it took, things worked fine. Mouse is very comfortable to hold, curved well so that the hand rests naturally in the right shape. Thumb buttons are easy to use, and the software setup is a snap for configuring just what actions you want things to do. It tracks well, but I'm using it on a normal desk surface, so there's nothing astounding there. Response is crisp and precise, no feeling of the cursor floating or not moving until I move the mouse enough to register. This isn't a mouse you're likely to take with you in a laptop case, so if you want portability, dig for one of the smaller units they have. But for something that stays on a desktop, it's a winner. As much as I've enjoyed using my MS Arc mouse, this one is a better overall unit. I can fold up the arc mouse to have in my case now for future need. Read more
I have been using this M510 mouse from Logitech for a few months and I am very pleased with its performance and feel. The feel of the mouse in your hands is very important, so before I purchased this mouse I went to my local Target and Bestbuy to see which mouse felt right in my hand. I settled on this M510. Then I bought it from Amazon.com. It is a full size mouse, so it is comfortable to hold for long hours, especially when you are playing a computer game. There is absolutely no lag, in fact this is the first wireless mouse I have used that really has no lag at all. I have not felt any signal issues either. The mouse communicates with its receiver flawlessly. It comes with the tiny unifying receiver that is small enough that you can safely leave it in your computer's usb port as there is no chance you might accidentally break it. If you are planning to travel with the mouse without the computer, you can put the unifying receiver inside the battery compartment of the mouse, there is a slot for it there. The mouse tracks well on almost all surfaces like bed sheet, comforter, sofa cushion etc. I do not use the software that comes with the mouse and can be downloaded from Logitech's website. I believe if you use the software you can get some additional functionality, however it is optional and is not needed. For me this is a perfect mouse. I do not need anything more than this mouse offers. The only negative thing with this mouse is the middle scroll wheel, which feels cheap and does not scroll smoothly. I do not know why Logitech did not add a smooth scroll wheel on this mouse, I would gladly pay $5 more for the addition. I guess, Logitech did not want this to be the perfect mouse and wanted customers to purchase their other expensive mice. I highly recommend this mouse to anyone who is looking for a basic wireless mouse. Read more
Great, affordable and durable...but don't misplace the receiver. I purchased this almost exactly six years ago, relying on Logitech for the best tools since 1988. In all that time, I've collected lots of Logitech wireless keyboards and mice using the "unifying receiver" designed to accommodate multiple devices. When adding a second, it often creates an orphan receiver. For some reason when I tried recently to use the M510 on a new desktop, the receiver that worked on the old machine refused to work on the new one. Downloading Logitech's updated receiver software and the LogiOptions+ utility didn't make it work either. After cycling through multiple orphan receivers, I apparently found the M510 original. Works great. Again. Last note would suggest avoiding the receiver issue altogether by choosing the newer M550 which connects using Bluetooth. Also durable and affordable but most valuable with laptops that offer limited USB ports. Read more
