Incredible Mouse

About a few years ago, I used my laptop touchpad for everything. Gaming, Web browsing, Excel documents, I did all of this with a touchpad. And it wasn't the best touchpad either. So I started to look for a mouse. I heard that Logitech made excellent mice so I decided to buy one. I was going to buy the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 but since I have small hands and that was a bigger mouse I decided to go with the M560 for $5 less. And I think I am glad I did. First of all, I think the M560 looks better, with its symmetrical design and matte black plastic. The lack of a seperated left and right click button is a nice touch and I haven't found any performance issues so far. The scroll wheel is a really cool feature. If you press the scroll wheel in, it will switch from ratcheted scrolling to smooth scrolling. I personally like the smooth scrolling better than the ratcheted. The scroll wheel can also be tilted from side to side to go back or forward between pages in a Web browser. In smooth scrolling mode, however, you will see some wheel wobble but you can't even tell by feeling it. Also, the silver ring around the scroll wheel isn't metal. It is plastic but I don't care that much because it still makes it look premium and cool. Right beside the scroll wheel is a square button that you can program to do almost anything you want. On the left side of the mouse where your thumb would go, you will find two buttons. Again, these buttons are programmable not unlike every other button on this mouse. Also, to program your mouse buttons, you will have to download SetPoint which is a free software that lets you program your mouse. I use the square button for switching applications and the buttons on the left for switching browser tabs and switching programs. Other reviewers say that the build quality is bad. I think that the build quality isn't GREAT but it certainly is OK. It isn't BAD. Sure the plastic seems a bit cheap and sure the scroll wheel wobbles but for $25 on Amazon I wouldn't complain. I think this is a great value even if the plastic isn't the greatest. I also quite like the matte black plastic. The rubber on the left and right sides of the mouse is comfortable and seems like it will last a long time. Also, Logitech says that this mouse is for righties and lefties but I think this mouse is more designed towards righties because if you are a lefty you will have to press the side buttons with your little finger. The black matte plastic the mouse is made of won't become shiny from grease and skin oil like glossy mice and certainly won't pick up any fingerprints. After using my mouse on a wooden table with no mouse pad, I have to say it was pretty accurate. And if you don't like how it performs out of the box, you can always change the settings in SetPoint. One last feature that I like about it is that it has a removable part on the bottom for the battery and there is also and holder for the receiver, which by the way, is tiny and awesome and takes no time at all to connect. Also, Logitech claims that this mouse has a two year battery life and I believe them, which is awesome. As a Logitech fan and customer, I am very pleased with my purchase of the Logitech M560 mouse. Pros: Looks great, build quality is okay, neat scroll wheel, programmable buttons, accurate Cons: None (maybe build quality might be an issue for some people but remember that this is a $25 mouse and I am completely fine with the plastic). Pretty good, a few complaints.

The mouse is OK for what it is. It is fairly light feeling in my hand, especially compared to my old mouse. You may prefer this, but it is not my favorite feeling, and feels cheap in my opinion. I do like the finish on the mouse though; it is a nice matte, gray in my case, feel and I wish more mice had that. It does not seem like it will show fingerprints, and only time will tell if it will wear off due to use. The mouse has lots of buttons on it: the right and left clicks, two buttons on the side which preform interesting features, a button right behind the wheel, and and right and left movement you can make with the mouse wheel. It does have a glaring admission however, there is no click down on the mouse wheel. It instead changes the wheel between a smooth and a graduated scroll mode. This is interesting, but the down click on the wheel would have been much more useful for me at least. I have heard that you can alleviate this issue by downloading some Logitech software in order to remap the right and left clicks on the mouse wheel to a down click, but I haven't tried it yet and it sounds like quite a bit of hassle. This is also effectively exchanging two buttons for one that is included in almost all mice anyways. Overall, the mouse works and was fairly cheap. I would not recommend this mouse for a heavy user or a gaming computer, but it works for my laptop. One star off for no mouse click down, one star off for needing more weight and feeling cheap, one star added for the fantastic feeling matte finish. Read more

Great mouse!

The Logitech M560 is a great wireless mouse designed for Windows 8. We have a computer with Windows 8, and this mouse works perfectly with it. The buttons do as advertised; the scroll wheel functions well in either scroll mode. The Unifying receiver is a great idea with its ability to connect several other things. I am amazed that this simple device has an on/off switch. I wouldn't have thought of that, but now that I have it, it's SOOO useful to turn it off and not wake up the computer every 10 seconds. A bit of warning about the scroll tilt: it is very easy to activate the scroll tilt and it doesn't click when you do so, therefore you may end up suddenly going back one page. The laser/optical/infared sensor that tracks the mouse is invisible. Great for not blinding people! I love the design for this mouse. I recently injured my right wrist, and it is as easy to use in my left hand as it was in my right hand. It is also easy to grip and lift (very lightweight). Side buttons are a very sweet touch. My family plays games, so I configured those two buttons to act as general purpose buttons. For some reason, I was able to configure the button under the scroll wheel to act as middle switch. But the side buttons are not following the reassignments, and thus cannot be used when playing games. Also, when the lower side button is configured to desktop, it actually presses Windows+D, and as thus it can be used to enter the letter "d" in passwords... So overall, this mouse is great if you actually use the buttons. If you don't use the Windows 8 buttons, you may want to reconfigure them. If you use anything other than Windows 8, you can use the extra buttons as general purpose buttons. Read more
