This game is fun, but average. Did not quite live up to my entertainment expectations. Please do not expect to much from this game. Read more

One to go in the "Failed PSP Games" file

Adam Schwartzβ€”October 4, 2010

This game looked so incredible in all the previews I saw for it, but when I got it, it became the next "Avatar". Extremely cool on consoles, horrid on handheld. This is one of those games that looks like a high school student threw together a game in a day to make a quick buck. The actual fighting is sort of fun, but there are no side quests, you get items ONLY for moving on to the next area, and you cannot find any weapons (that I know of), they just appear. As I said, though, the fighting itself is decent. the attack animations suck, but mixing normal attacks with special skills makes for a fun minute. After playing this game, I made a promise that from then on, I would only get PSP exclusive games. Read more

Good Game for Casual LOTR Fans

Customerβ€”November 10, 2010βœ“ Verified purchase

This is a fun hack and slash with some shooting that lets you play through many of the major events in Lord of the Rings. It embeds cut-away scenes in the action while you play and the graphics are OK. There are a few side-quests, and you can find materials and forge weapons at hidden dwarven forges. You can find armor and power-objects in chests. You have to fight and look thoroughly to find the hidden items, keys, rescue people, etc. It lets you re-play missions where you were not entirely successful, at any time after you clear the mission once. If you just play through the story, it's a short game. Probably more for the casual gamer and LOTR fan than the hard-core gamer. Read more

Pretty good

Good game play. No sync with the story line of the Lord of the Rings movies. Good weapon choices. Fine for fans of the genre. Read more

This crap isn't worthy of the LotR name

Richard Bakerβ€”March 28, 2012

The Good: Collecting items is fun, varied environments The Bad: Replays the movies, shallow RPG elements, boring combat, repetitive enemies, easy The LoTR franchise has been struggling in the games department since the movies came out. While there have been amazing LoTR games the adventure games have been slacking since Return of the King. Aragorn's Quest is a sneaky thing because it just retells the story of the movies in Aragorn's eyes using the movie actors and it's kind of lame. While the movies are great please let's move away from there and do something original. The combat is the lackluster and is pretty disappointing. You can find abilities and equip them and these come in pretty handy for more powerful enemies. You can buy new attacks, find new weapons, armor, and bows and these are all pretty useful. You can level up by killing enemies, but you can't distribute the points at all. The whole RPG thing is very bare bones and I would have liked to see more depth here and more customization, but it's not there. Actually doing the combat is boring since you just mash heavy and light attacks and most enemies are dumb and are easy to kill. You can parry and counter attack, and use your bow for far off enemies, but it's been done before so many times. Every enemy attacks almost the same, and while there are a few good moments there just aren't enough. Running around highly linear levels and hitting this switch, find four stones to open this door, hit that switch is really annoying. The game doesn't look very good either with an isometric prospective, and doesn't sound too hot either. The game is just boring, and easy, and drags on longer than it should. I was really looking forward to this game, but with just a few more months this game could have been something epic. Read more
