Works perfectly with Lutron Hub and Logitech Remote
Several months ago, we picked up a Logitech Home Control remote, and decided to try out some of the Caseta dimmers since they're compatible with the Logitech remotes. It's amazing how useful that combination is! Regardless, after going through the downstairs and replacing switches so everything is linked up & automated - I started to find other uses for the system. That's where these Lamp dimmer switches come in. For example, I always work out in our bedroom in the morning - and my wife has been complaining that it smells like a gym. With that in mind, I picked up an air cleaning filter for our bedroom, and hooked it up to one of these lamp dimmers. Then I programmed it through the Lutron Smart Bridge to come on automatically at 1/2 speed in the morning - and to bump up to full speed for about an hour after my workout (once I'm gone to work). It turns itself off automatically. I have it set to a similar program on the weekends, but it starts later so it won't wake us up if we sleep in. The best part is that we don't need to worry about switching anything on or off - and the cord for the air filter can be completely hidden behind a dresser since there isn't any need to ever unplug it. We have another one that's used for a more boring purpose (running a lamp in our living room) - and that works great too. The Smart Bridge & Logitech remote are programmed to automatically turn on the lamp when we're done watching TV for the night, so we don't have to hunt around for the light switch in the dark. It's even smart enough to know not to turn the lamp on during the day! Once you start using these Caseta switches, there are tons of uses for them that make life more convenient and energy efficient; although, they definitely aren't cheap. The Pico remote that comes with this kit is just a bonus. When using the Lutron Smart Bridge, you can hook the remote up however you want - and there isn't any need to link it to this lamp dimmer. In our case, I linked the remote to our bedroom lights so my wife can have a remote on her nightstand for convenience. Here are the things we like about these remotes, switches, and dimmers in general: 1) The dimmers work perfectly with our G7 LED bulbs . The dimming range is excellent, and the switches are adjustable so you can actually set the minimum and maximum dimmer setting to match your bulbs. 2) The Pico remote will pair with one switch; but, if you use it with the Lutron Smart Bridge , you can actually pair a single Pico remote with as many switches as you want (or multiple remotes to the same switch). That makes it possible to do some cool things - like turning off all the lights downstairs with a wall-mounted Pico remote. 3) Once again, when paired with the Lutron Smart Bridge, it's possible to turn lights on and off on a schedule - and the schedule can even be based on the current sunrise and sunset times. This is one of the coolest features of these switches once you start messing around with it! 4) These can be controlled either individually or in groups using the Logitech Home Control remote. 5) These dimmers look great. If I could change just one thing with these, it would be adding the ability to program the on and off buttons of a single switch independently. For example: when I come in from the garage, I want the switch to turn on the hall light; but, when I'm leaving, it would be great if the off button of the same switch could turn off all the lights downstairs instead of just the hall light. Unfortunately, as of now the switches don't offer that much flexibility. If you're just looking for a plug-in dimmer that will work with LED and CFL lights, then there are less expensive options out there that work just as well. If, on the other hand, you're looking to combine this with either the Lutron Smart Bridge or the Logitech Home Control remote (or both), then this is part of an excellent system! I would definitely recommend trying these out. Read more
