I am so over wonky wooden frames that never last, split, crack, slats fall out, having owned many in my lifetime. I wanted a Heavy Duty Metal frame, one and done, and this will likely be passed on for generations. Pros: 1. Very economical price. 2. Heavy duty metal and steel frame fit my standard twin mattress exactly. This frame is rock-solid! 3. No box spring required. The 5.2" distance between steel slats allows plenty of air-flow under a mattress to prevent moisture from accumulating. 4. Anti-slip baffles (used to prevent the mattress from slipping). 5. Rubber plugs on leg bottoms prevent frame from sliding. 6. Comes with all tools required for assembly, parts including spares are labeled (no wondering why you have left-overs). Photo instruction sheet was easy to follow. 7. Quiet, no squeaking. Minor Cons: 1. Although the assembly was fast and easy. I did require assistance from a second pair of hands to attach the center legs and center side rail connections. I suppose if you could support the partially assembled frame with 12" blocks (or tall coffee cans, etc) of some sort a singleton could make the center connections easier otherwise its a little awkward, especially in tight quarters. 2. I wish the frame was a little higher for under-bed storage. My standard bins are 12.5" and 15". I'll just have to add risers to the 6 legs. I have used this for four months now with a 15'' Nola Luxury Firm Hybrid Mattress and it's fantastic. It's very sturdy, easy to put together, looks great, and has good storage underneath. Your biggest question may be, "is it creaky?" I can happily say that this frame doesn't make a sound or even move. The mattress stays in place without any issues. Absolutely recommend this frame. 1) This metal bed frame and several others like it, claim a box spring is not required. I tend to differ. 2) After assembling the bedframe, I put my existing mattress on it and was lying in a pretty deep hole. After feeling under the frame while sitting on the side I could feel the mattress attempting to bulge thru the frame due to the 5 1/4-inch spacing underneath. (And possibly a 12-year-old mattress??) 3) Sealy's Warranty (easy to google) states cross slats must measure at least 3" wide and no more than 4 inches' apart. This unit as delivered from the factory does not meet those requirements. (5/8-inch-wide slats, 5 1/4 inches apart) Sealy also states inadequate bases include but are not limited to plywood and plastic liners. 4) I did modify my new frame with a 3/16-inch layer of sandeply from HD and 5 self-tapping screws in each piece. The mattress is now fully supported the way it was before when I was using a box spring. As a bonus the mattress no longer slides around on the new bedframe as it did before. Apparently when I receive my new mattress, I will not meet Sealy's warranty requirement due to the 3/16 " layer of sandeply on the frame. I'm OK with that, because I now have a flat base as I will not be using a box spring. That's why I purchased this unit in the first place to eliminate the box spring. Overall, the frame does seem to be solid enough for my queen bed and two bed mates. No problems there. During assembly I did have to reem out 2-hole openings slightly as the bolt holes didn't quite line up. Otherwise, the assembly was fine. I purchased this frame so I could keep and attach my existing headboard and get rid of my 40-year-old 6" high American made frame to give the bed a different look and provide better storage underneath and a bit easier to vacuum under the frame. I am not an expert on bed frames; this is just my personal synopsis. For now, I am completely satisfied with the height and the frame. I will receive my new mattress (inner spring) in a few days. The price was right. I didn't expect I'd have to put $70 bucks of material on top of it, but I am OK with that. I've been a blue-collar hands-on building trades mechanic all my life, so this comes natural for me. At 70 years old a bit much but it keeps you moving as well. Ask some questions prior to purchasing this unit. No doubt many people have purchased this unit and have not voiced any concerns or had any problems. Perhaps the new mattresses have a solid backing/bottom to prevent any potential bulging thru the platform spacing?? Read more

The bed seems sturdy. However, let's see what happens when an active 10-year-old uses it. My biggest complaint is how it's advertised. The frame can only be put together in 30 minutes if EVERYTHING goes right. Don't drop a nut or bolt. Don't drop the little allen wrench or the small wrench. I have assembled items like this and it always takes longer. It's best to empty all the nuts, bolts, and other items into a small bowl or container to keep them together. (Trust me on this one) I had much better success using a socket wrench to hold the nuts in place while turning the allen wrench. A second pair of hands would help. I'm really happy I picked this platform. I was impressed by the quality and the engineering that went into it. It's "rock solid" (a term people like to say). Effort was made to make it squeak proof - with rubber tape and solid design. I wanted to use our headboard and this platform has the holes to mount it. The assembly instructions are concise (just illustrations) but through. All parts are labeled to match the illustrations. All in all, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Read more
