I chose this bag because I wanted a cloth purse that would have autumnal colors and a longer strap so that I could carry it cross-body. What I got was a beautiful, well made 10.5"x14"x4" bag with a exterior zip pocket large enough for my cell phone, two HUGE zippered inside pockets and two good sized (one larger and one smaller) inside slip in pockets as well as plenty of room to carry all my "stuff", with a long strap that will easily fit across my body. The bag is well padded and is a lovely print pattern (I got the Jaipur pattern.) in soft golds, orangey reds, blues and grays. The handles and zippers are in the same orangey red and the lining is a lovely saffron gold with dots. The bag is made in India and is cotton. It is a beautiful bag. Lots of room and being a total nature lover, I love the design with the birds. It is a perfect book bag, travel bag, you can fit a laptop easily into the bag and it is washable. Great storage capacity in general and the strap length and can be adjusted accordingly. I bought this purse last August so I've been using it everyday for 8 months. I am careful not to put it on dirty surfaces. But it has worn like iron - no defects - no flaws - still as beautiful as the day I bought it. It is a gorgeous print - the detail is unsurpassable by anything else that I've seen ( and I'm 64 ). They did a meticulous job with this bag. I wanted to order the backpack but I can't find it. I did buy a duplicate purse and will probably buy a third after I buy the tote bag. It is roomy inside with two side pockets inside, one outside, and a large zippered compartment in the middle. It fits all my junk. Since it's cloth, it's very malleable and I have no problem getting to things or getting them in or out. Go ahead and buy it - you will love it too! Read more

I wrote a glowing review of another blue toile bag in this print. The excellence I found in all their products I've purchased specifically the various toile print bags they are so well made and designed for durability and just being pretty! I’ve also had many dining linen pieces too the last few years.. They never disappoint. They are so beautifully designed and workmanship is excellent. I am very disappointed with the design of this purse! It is described as 3.9 inches wide, but it is only 3.9 inches wide at the bottom. It is about 1 inch wide at the top of the bag that tapers to 3.9 inches at the bottom. I was expecting it to be 3.9 inches wide from top to bottom. There is a zippered section of the bag right in the middle of the bag that separates the bag into two sections. Rather than 3.9 inches wide it is more like 1.5 inches and 1.5 inches with a zippered section in between. I love the design of the fabric. It is very beautiful! I just wish the bag was 3.9 inches at the top of the purse and that the zippered section would be along the side of the interior so that there is actually a 3.9 inch wide interior. Read more
After months of using this, on and off, I have to say that it's pretty much average, which is rare for a Maison d' Hermine bag. I've bought a few of their bags over the years since they've been around, and they're usually a lot higher quality than this one, and a lot more durable. This is about average for a cheap bag you'd buy from a nonbranded-source, made from a very thin cotton fabric, and stitched together with thinner thread that starts to pull in about a month after you start carrying the bag. To give some history here, I have purchased Maison d' Hermine bags in several patterns and from several of their different lines. They have a weekender-bag that's cotton and quilted and thick and sturdy and wonderful. They have cotton-canvas purses that are very sturdy and very well-made and really durable while even being hand-washable. And they have a couple of pretty sturdy shopping-totes that I've used for groceries over the years. And then they have this.... It's cotton, but it's very very thin cotton, of the type you'd expect to see on a very thin handkerchief or scarf. It's very thin, which means that, when they sewed it all together with their standard thread, it began to pull little holes into the cotton-outer. It's got little holes in it, that get bigger over time, as you try to carry actual items in your bag while using this as an actual purse. It's also got strap-pulling, from the weight of a not-full-purse, where the attachment for the straps is slowly pulling and I'm seeing more and more thread along with larger and larger little-holes in the fabric. After having used this, on and off, only for a couple weeks at a time and only here and there, for the last maybe five months, I am calling it and saying that this bag basically sucks. I LOVE their Cotton-CANVAS, because that bag is sturdy and well-made and durable. I LOVE their Quilted-Cotton-Padded-Weekender, because that bag is similarly sturdy and well-made. But I DON'T LOVE this basic thin cotton bag, because it's falling apart after very little use and it's very cheaply made with a very thin and easily-worn outer-cotton-fabric. I say, as a SUPERFAN of Maison d' Hermine bags, DON'T BUY THIS. Instead, BUY their Cotton-Canvas shoulder bag. It's slightly smaller (wish they had a larger size), but it's miles ahead of this bag, and it's durable and it's reliable and my oldest one is coming up on four-years in rotation, and it's basically still new. This bag here, this plain thin cotton bag, is falling apart after maybe two months of total use. Their Cotton-Canvas is basically new after six months of use. Get that one, not this one, and remember they have all the same patterns in the Cotton-Canvas that they have in this sad little thin bag that falls apart so easily. Read more
