Wasn’t sure how I’d like this mat when it first arrived but I’ve used it a number of times now for hot yoga and I absolutely love it. Not slippery at all. No smell upon arrival. Perfect length. Overall quality seems good and durable. Read more
Does not slip at all. Maybe too much traction for some people, but I love it. Also thickness is perfect for yoga and all sorts of floor exercises. Also quite easy to clean. Read more
Best mat I’ve ever used. I’ve been doing yoga for over 20 years. I never bough an expensive mat because I didn’t think I needed to. I WAS SO WRONG! This is worth the price, amazing durability, I feel like I can balance better. My sessions have been more meaningful and the super grip texture is awesome. Be cautious, it can feel a bit rougher on your knees as far as the surface, but the density of the mat is nice and comfortable and cushions well. Can really work on any surface too. No gross chemical smell upon opening either. I love this mat. Read more
This mat is very sticky, to clothes, skin you name it. It also is very stiff, doesn't roll out into a small size, but also doesn't curl at the edges, ever. It didn't smell at all. Nice color. I gave it 4 not 5 because it really isn't easy to carry at all. Read more
Have always wanted a Manduka mat and I’m so happy I finally was able to splurged and get myself one. The quality is unmatched. The weight of the mat, the cushion and texture of this mat is just right. Love practicing on this mat. Thank you Manduka! Read more
I purchased the Manduka X mat through Amazon after having seen it at a local sporting goods shop. I had been looking for the 'perfect' mat and didn't notice this on the Manduka site. This mat is great, it is deeply textured, lightweight (like the PROlite), strong, and 5mm thick (like the PRO). Also, I wanted a black mat. It is deep black (but comes in two other colors). The only noticeable drawback in this type of mat is that it can kink and show noticeable lines. It arrived with kinks on the end where it had been rolled tight for packaging and shipping. Time has not removed them completely but they are only noticeable to me and I expect them to go away completely. I have to roll the mat large with some care and consideration so as not to kink it myself. It is closed cell and dries very quickly. The deep texture means that I have to spend a little more time wiping it clean but it holds all of my towels better. It is also grippy, probably why it is touted as their 'athletic' mat. I think it is very stylish and the best looking mat at the studio, and i even like how Manduka stitched the logo on the side. One of those happy purchases. Read more
I have had this mat for a few months now and I have to say, for the price you can definitely buy something better. Pros: The mat is thick, great cushioning for practice in a studio with hard floors. It's pretty sturdy and will probably last a long time. That's it. Those are the only positives. Cons: The texture of the mat is awful! It's rough and hurts a lot. It digs into your hands and scrapes up your feet. It leaves indents on your forehead during child's pose. The texture also makes the mat grippy but it grips/sticks to everything but you. It's impossible to get into a yoga bag because it gets stuck as it grips to the fabric. The fact that is doesn't grip to you isn't helpful at all during yoga, your feet are constantly sliding around in poses like warrior two and this makes it scrape up your feet even more. Oh and the tiniest amount of sweat will send you slipping and sliding all over the place. It's impossible to clean for me. Any papertowels I try to use to wipe it down get stuck and shredded and towels just get stuck and won't move, even if you wet them. I guess you could hose it down but this isn't an option for me as I live in an apartment. I tried washing it in the bathtub but even that proved to be difficult. (It shouldn't be this hard LOL.) And even though the thickness is nice, it also makes the mat rigid and nearly impossible to roll up (though this did get better over time). For $70 you can definitely get something better. I have an older yoga mat (do not know the brand) that cost $30 and it's far better than this one. :) Read more
Love my mat! Love the purple color. Sticky enough. Easy to clean. I’m not a heavy sweater during yoga so it’s never slippery for me but when I clean it, I can definitely see how it could be an issue. Read more
