I use tele lenses and gimbal, so I needed something sturdy and it is ! I like the fliplocks I like the massive ball head I like the locking pad Read more
To be clear, this is not a travel tripod. It is unapologetically beefy and that is a good thing. Its legs lock with a extremely hard click, the weight of the metal construction inspires real confidence in stability, and the 90 degree center column trick is actually genuinely useful. I would recommend saving some money and going with the aluminum version because more likely than not you are not (and probably shouldn't) use this for travel. the extra weight of aluminum will actually benefit you more for the types of uses this tripod is designed for. Manfroto is an overall fantastic company and could not recommend this tripod more for heavy duty use. Read more
I need a sturdy tripod for in home use and occasional outdoor shoots. This tripod fits my needs. It is heavy, sturdy, and tall (I don't have to bend over to look at viewfinder). The ball head is solid and easy to operate. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. A couple of things I would like to raise here. 1) there is no instruction or warranty information, and the 2D barcode on the box is covered, which makes me wonder whether I am getting a genuine product. 2) the tips of the legs are rubber, while it would be better to have these screw-on thing to expose metal tips, which would be useful for outdoors. A nice aluminum tripod for studio and field work. Quick release lever lock legs are faster to deploy that the twist locks and can be adjusted for tension if they slip or are too tight to operate. The center post not only expands vertically, but can pivot 90 degrees to provide for unique angles and camera positioning. With the center post at 90 degrees and the legs splayed, you can really get into some creative positions. A bubble level and attachment point for an articulating arm are also part of this tripod. Being aluminum it is a bit heavy and probably not suited for travel or hiking use, but it is more stable than it's carbon fiber counterparts. It's reasonably priced and therefore I feel it's a nice tripod for the money. Topped with a RRS BH-55, this makes a great combo. Read more
I purchased this tripod to support my camera and telephoto sports lens. It's stable, sets up quickly and supports the camera and lens solidly. The ball head is the star of its show. It's smooth to operate, locks easily and has built-in levels. The locking mechanisms are simple twist knobs allowing the camera to be locked vertically and still readily swung from side-to-side to follow the action on any playing field. It may weigh more than some photographers are willing to carry, but if you've got a big telephoto lens to support, this one will do the job. Read more
I love everything about this tripod. One thing I will note as I gave three stars for lightweight. It's fairly large and has some weight to it. Everything I wanted and great for home use, would not be as great for travel or easy mobile use. I will also add that the weight makes you feel a lot more confident that your large camera is not going anywhere when mounted on top of this tripod. Overall, amazing tripod, highly recommend!
