Amazing Compact Electric Shaver
This is my first Manscaped product ever and I'm glad I gave this a chance. I was using a BaBylissPRO MetalFX double foil shaver for the past 2 years as my portable electric shaver in the car when I woke up late and didn't have time to shave or when I travel and don't want to bring my large Braun Series 9 Pro+ with me. However, my BaBylissPRO MetalFX shaver got lost when the airport lost my luggage so I was looking for a replacement. I didn't want to drop another $170 for the same compact electric shaver so I looked at alternatives. Lo and behold I saw the Manscaped Handyman on sale for $56. it's less than 3x as cheap as the BaBylissPRO MetalFX so I thought I'd give it a chance at that price. I'm glad I did because this is an excellent compact electric shaver. The main thing that makes this compact electric foil shaver stand out from other similarly sized items is that it has a hybrid design. You get one foil shaver on the bottom that gives you a close shave but a trimmer on top that cuts down longer hair. All the other compact electric foil shavers that I've tried either came with just one foil shaver or two foil shaver. Now some people might not like the hybrid design since it might take more passes on your face to get a close shave (again it's only ONE foil shaver for a close shave) compared to an electric shaver that has two foil shavers, but I like the versatility of having the foil shaver and a trimmer together in case I don't shave for a few days and my facial hair is too long. The BaBylissPRO MetalFX that I had came with a stronger motor (at least it feels stronger with how much the thing vibrates in my hands and how much louder it is) but it struggled if my facial hair was a tad long. The BaByliss shaver would yank my hair if this was the case and I would need to trim it down first before I try shaving again. I am glad to say that the Manscaped Handyman was able to still cut down my facial hair to skin even after 5 days of not shaving. I know Manscaped advertises it as being able to cut up to 3 days of stubble, but for my straight facial hair I could go 5 days and the Handyman will still mow through my facial hair without any issues. This versatility of being able to cut down longer facial hair and shorter stubble makes this a superior compact electric shaver FOR MY NEEDS. If you shave every day without fail and your facial hair doesn't grow out that long then you'll probably prefer a different compact electric shaver with at least two foil blades to make less passes and save a little time (my old BaBylissPRO MetalFX is an excellent option if this is you). I haven't had any nicks since using the Handyman and it does provide a very close shave. It's not the closest but it's pretty close. Other pros would be the magnetic cap is easy to take on and off. The entire shaver is waterproof and it charges with a USB C cable (one less cable to carry around). Battery life lasts longer than my old BaBylissPRO Metal FX too. As a matter of fact, I haven't need to charge the Handyman since the initial charge on the first day I got this. The ergonomics of this compact electric shaver is pretty comfortable and won't make your hands cramp. The entire shaver is easy to clean and the shaving head pops on and off easily to rinse as well. Now for cons. It does take a little longer and more passes to shave your facial hair down to skin due to the hybrid design of having only one foil side and one trimmer side (again double foil blades would be faster if you only have stubble). If you run your fingers around your jawline against the grain of your facial hair after shaving, you might still feel stubble poking your fingers. People can't see the facial hair for the majority of the day though. At this price point I can't really complain at all. Only my full size Braun Series 9 Pro+ and my dad's Panasonic Arc 5 gives me a closer shave that's reminiscent of a manual or safety razor, but those are substantially larger and more expensive. Also Manscaped doesn't directly sell you the replacement heads on Amazon (there are 3rd party ones on though that are cheaper) so you would need to pay for shipping if you're just buying the replacement heads or need to spend $50 for free shipping on their site. I would highly recommend this if you're looking for a versatile compact electric shaver that can cut stubble and slightly longer facial hair down to skin. For how well this shaves, I thought this was well worth $56. Read more
