This is the first time the crib mattress cover is in use, and we have a winner. Using it over a 3" memory foam topper cut to size. Our 94-year old mom enjoys lying on the loveseat in TV room, being with family, watching the birds, enjoying her flowers. We encourage her to be up and not be in her bedroom all day. But our loveseat has very firm cushions. Mom is very petite and like many older folks, she doesn't eat much. Her hip bones are pressing against her skin so we watch for pressure sores. We also use a 3" memory foam topper on her beautiful memory foam mattress. Cut a 6" x 6" hole in the topper so her hip would be suspended, so to speak, while the rest of her body is fully supported. This has worked out great. But laying on the couch was beginning to bother her. Bought another 3" memory foam topper from Amazon, cut it to size for the loveseat and purchased this waterproof pad for a cover. Mom loves this solution! She's much happier, no pain. We purchased the set of two. Giving five stars as it is well made, washed and dried well, very soft padding. We are hoping the waterproofing is not needed. Will update if anything changes. I bought this mattress pad and the Waterproof Crib Mattress Pad (Fitted) - Very Soft, Quilted, NO VINYL, Fits All Standard Size Baby Mattresses, No Risk 100% Satisfaction Guarantee Crib Mattress Protector at the same time to put on my brand new crib mattress (you should always use a cover/pad!). I chose these because they are both budget-friendly and highly rated on Amazon. I wanted to compare the two and, if they were close to equal, keep them both so I'd always have a clean one on hand for unexpected middle-of-the-night bedding changes. I ultimately chose to return the Happy Little Mill (HLM) cover and will be buying another of one from Margaux & May (M&M). Had I only bought the HLM cover, I would have been happy enough and kept it. The M&M one was just a step above. The primary reason why I prefer the M&M is the sound factor. I had just purchased a memory foam mattress in part to get away from the plastic sounds of his older spring mattress. I didn't want the mattress cover to bring back the noise I had just eliminated. M&M is almost completely silent when you move around on it. HLM was noticeably louder though not terribly so. I also loved how soft the terry-cloth top of the M&M was. It gave it an extra little feeling of cush. The HLM has a plain fabric that is soft to the touch as well, but lacks that plush feeling of M&M. Lastly, neither had much of a smell and I could notice no plastic or chemical smell in the M&M after I washed it (I washed it before use). I didn't try putting the HLM on the mattress (I had already concluded it was going back) so I can't compare the two there -- but I can say that I was please with the snug fit of the M&M on my 5" deep foam crib mattress. I've washed it twice and used it for 6 weeks so far and I'm pleased with how it washes and how flat it lays on the bed. It's totally unnoticeable through the sheet, as it should be. There have been no issues with my son waking up sweaty or overheated as can sometimes happen when sleeping on a waterproof mattress cover. I have not yet had an occasion to observe it's waterproof claims but will certainly update this review if it fails to meet my expectations in that arena. Great mattress topper! I love that its waterproof but doest feel plastic-y at all. It feels like it will hold up for a lot of washes. It's nice and thick and the terry cloth on top makes it just a little bit fluffier. The combo of the mattress topper and the sheet is so soft - I wish I could sleep on it! Read more

This crib mattress protector works well and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s soft and quiet, which is important for babies who move around during sleep, and it doesn’t feel plasticky or stiff. The padding adds a little extra comfort while still fitting nicely under crib sheets. Absorbency is solid for diaper leaks and small accidents, and it washes well without losing its shape or softness. I also appreciate that it lays flat and doesn’t bunch up in the crib.
