Soft cotton, stable shape, good thickness, perform well

I ordered this very soft 100-percent Indian cotton towel set to replace some older towels that were getting too thin. I love Indian cotton because it absorbs well and remains fluffy for years. This terrycloth seems to be the right kind for that and I am hopeful. The blue color called “Skyland Manor Blue” is soothing; it’s pale but still colorful and will blend in with my older towels. It says something that my spouse, who doesn’t “get” special towels wants one for himself. The fabric is gentle on my sensitive skin and wicks the water up well. When you open the package and test the cloth, water beads do remain un-absorbed for a while, so I recommend washing the towels first. The selvage down the length of the towel is intact with no loose threads. The double folded seams at the ends are folded over perfectly straight with no un-sewn edges showing, and the open corners are neat. They are OEKOTEX Standard 100, which means tested for a set of 100 bad chemicals, although it doesn’t say which class of safety specifically. The listing says the threads are 2-ply and the terrycloth does seem sturdy enough. 700 GSM (grams/square meter) is supposed to be twice as full as a very basic towel. They do feel thick and heavy enough to me; although they are not the ultra thick, totally high-end kind you find at certain luxurious spa venues; however, they don’t show light through the weave when held up to a window. Compared to my old worn-out standbys they are luxurious to me. There’s a uniform 3-inch wide dobby-weave border about four inches from the ends, which remained straight and did not pucker after washing or cause the bath towel to lose its shape. Machine wash but no fabric softener. They absorb water and dry well, so for my standards they meet my needs. The price at sixty four bucks is a bit higher than I prefer to pay for towels, as these are not the ultimate in thickness; however, they would be a good treat to yourself or as a wedding gift or housewarming present, because everyone enjoys new, fresh fluffy towels. Nice color, good size

I ordered the Skyland Manor Green towel set, and turns out it is a very light pastel green almost a faded shade of green. It’s much softer and lighter in color than I expected, but I still like it. I would say this color could fit a farmhouse or shabby chic bath décor as well as an all-white bath as mine is. After washing and drying, there was no shrinkage at all and the towels remained true to shape. I was especially happy to see that the trim along the edges didn’t shrink or pucker (I have an old brand name set that did pucker and I dislike them). Of note the border is only on one edge not a problem for me but worth knowing ahead of ordering. There were a few pulls/snags, I think caused from the way the towels were secured together with plastic “staples”. I thought this worth noting since I had to weave and secure the snags back in the towels with a small hook so they would be less noticeable. The towels are very absorbent, soft, and nice to dry off with. Overall, I’m pleased with the color and quality however, I did remove a star for the pulled loops. Read more

Beautiful color & great quality

I just received this towel set and I’m really impressed so far. The color is absolutely beautiful in person. The towels are thick and feel very high quality right out of the package. I’ve already washed them once, and they held up really well. No excessive lint, no fading, and they actually got even softer after washing. They’re also quite absorbent without feeling heavy. Overall, they feel like a great value for the quality. Definitely happy with this purchase! Read more

Not Great...

First and foremost, these are ok towels and work as expected. They're not particularly thick, but thick enough not to feel thin. Quality is fine, but first time use is downright annoying. Why? To begin with, they're securely fastened together with those plastic barbs used for tags. Altogether eight of them. Once I found and cut all of them, I had to remove the 16 plastic "pokey things" from the towels. Super annoying and completely unnecessary. If I had bought four sets that would be 64 little pieces of plastic to try to find and dig out! After that, I noticed that all six towels have a cardboard tag that needs to be ripped off. The remaining tag is annoyingly long and big and while I suppose I could cut all of those out too, this one towel set was already more trouble than it was worth. But finally, all of the towels were extracted. That's when I started noticing quality issues. Several of the plastic barbs pulled out the threads of the towel. Some stitching seemed uneven and had loose threads. One towel had a big pile of thread in it, another had a couple of hairs. Once you get past all of the annoyances, the towels aren't bad. For now they absorb well and are fine to wash. They are a step up from generic, but not super premium. At the current price, they don't seem like a great value. I've purchased better and thicker towels for significantly less. If you love the brand, I suppose these are a good choice, but otherwise, I'd pass on these. Read more
