I purchased this scale because I was going to sell some scrap, chains, and coins made of gold and silver. Right out of the box it was configured properly and was able to use it to check that the local pawn and jewelry shops did not try and cheat me. Out of the eight dealers I delt with half of them tried to tell me I had less weight. So I had the full confidence to ask for my pieces back and walk out until I was able to find the highest price from an honest dealer. While it worked 100% out of the box I would still advise you to buy a 100 gram weight to make sure it is configured properly as not everyone will get a properly configured scale and you will have to do it yourself. The scale comes with step by step instructions on how you can do it and its pretty brain dead easy. For the 25 dollars both the scale and the weights cost me. I made thousands of dollars more and was well worth the price if I was even selling one piece of jewelry. I know gold and silver are at a record price right now but even when they go down eventually you will still find this useful. This is an amazing tool to make sure you are not going into a deal without knowing all of the information required to profit fully. Read more
Holds up like a champion, despite handling spills of plasteroid, fiberglass, with no loss of accuracy. Great for cooking, preparing hundreds of grams of plaster, or a few grams of artist pigments, small-scale metalurgy (fusible alloys) - but probably stop using it for cooking once you've used it in the lab. If one was into such degenerate activities, the readability and capacity is appropriate for selling most contraband. Plus, it was CHEAP AS HELL! Uses 2 AAA batteries (recommend junking the ones it came with, they are monuments excessive cost-cutting, short lived and likely to leak); Battery saver shutoff is annoyingly short.
