A review of the Mayfair Linen 100% Cotton Pillow Cases Set of 2 - Standard/Queen Pillowcase for Sleeping, Soft, Silky Sateen Weave Bed Pillow Cover, Long Staple Pillowcases - Pearl White pillowcases! Pillow cases are so important, but we rarely give them the due they deserve. They cradle our head and face all night long, and while your body might be able to endure a less-than-silky smooth material cradling it all night long, our face deserves better. These pillow cases remind me of the cases Mom used on our pillows. Back then, I didn't think of silky. No, I was impressed by the weight, the thickness, the quality of them. Mom would take the pillow cases off the clothes lines and put them directly on our pillows. I couldn't wait to put my head down and smell the freshness and feel the substantial cotton-made material. These pillow cases remind me of those great pillow cases of my youth. These cases are strong, heavyweight material that feels like silky smooth perfection. The pillowcases seem well constructed, and the overlock stitches are reassuring that these pillowcases will stay together for a long time. The fact that these cases are made from 100% long fiber mercerised cotton ensures a consistent color throughout their life, and when you start to sweat, these pillowcases will wick away the moisture and protect your hair and skin. I just received 3 sets from different companies, and they all seem so dreamy. I washed them and put them to work right away, and like the ad states, they are roomy enough to accommodate the full-figured pillow. No more struggling to get them over the pillow. If you're like me and remember the pillowcases that mom line-dried and freshly made up your bed with, lying your head down was something to look forward to. These bring that feeling back, and they are so silky smooth with a crisp, fresh feel. I love them! Read more

I recently purchased the Linen Cotton Pillowcase Set (Set of 2), and they have elevated my bedding experience with their exceptional comfort and quality. Crafted from 100% cotton with a sateen weave, these pillowcases offer a soft, silky texture that feels luxurious against the skin, perfect for a restful night’s sleep. The sateen weave gives these pillowcases a smooth, lustrous finish that not only enhances their high-quality feel but also adds a touch of elegance to my bedroom decor. Available in standard or king sizes (based on similar products), they fit my pillows perfectly and are machine-washable, maintaining their softness and vibrant color even after multiple washes. The breathable cotton material helps regulate temperature, making them ideal for year-round use. While these pillowcases are nearly perfect, they can wrinkle slightly after washing, which is typical for 100% cotton. A quick iron or tumble dry on low heat resolves this easily. Their durability and premium feel make them well worth the investment. Overall, this set combines comfort, style, and quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone seeking to upgrade their bedding. I highly recommend these pillowcases for their silky softness and lasting elegance. Read more

These are generously sized pillowcases that fit my plump queen-sized pillows well without being so snug that they are a pain to put on. They have a wide, stitched-down hem on one side of the open end of the pillow and an envelope style closure on the other, which completely covers the end of the pillow. A feature that I really like. The pearl white color is a snowy white, and doesn't really seem any different from some of the other shades of white offered by Mayfair Linens. The pillowcases are made of high quality 100% cotton and the fabric is tightly woven and seems durable. The thread count is not given, but the cases are quite substantial. I would say that they are thicker and heavier than most of my pillowcases, but not so much that they feel stiff after laundering. The pillowcases arrived nicely pressed and folded in a nice box. Initially, they have that lovely sheen I associate with a sateen weave and a smooth, almost silky feel. But they aren't really all that soft. However, after the first wash much of that sheen and silky feel is gone but they still feel very nice and are softer. I washed one of the pair in cold water using a gentle cycle followed by line drying (my usual way of laundering bedding). In comparing it with the unlaundered pillowcase, the stitching held up very well and there were no fabric flaws. There was minor shrinkage in length and none in width. There was some wrinkling, which I would expect of cotton bedding. Not enough for me to want to iron them, and the wrinkles mostly fell out after putting the pillowcases on the pillows, anyway. I would say that while these pillowcases are not particularly luxe, they are a very practical choice and the reasonable price makes them an excellent value. I do wish the thread count had been provided in the description, as I use this information as well as fabric content when making an online purchasing decision. But now that I have the cases, the box says they are part of the Everyday Comfort line. I don't see this line on the brand's storefront (they have many product lines) so maybe these are new, and I will be able to match them up to the sheets if I need to do so. The box also states that these pillowcases are made of 100% Egyptian Cotton, which is almost certainly incorrect. The same claim is repeated on the label sewn into the pillowcases. Egyptian Cotton is a costly, luxury fabric and I wouldn't expect to see it at this price point. Products made of 100% Egyptian Cotton must display the official seal of the Cotton Egypt Association (ECA). There is no such seal shown. I took away one star from what would otherwise be a five star product for this reason. Read more
