I bought it because I loved the idea of multiple Bluetooth channels. Sadly I'll never know what that's like. I tried connecting to my Android phone and Linux (Ubuntu) laptop and desktop. I tried a lot. Never connected. I have a lot to say about the lack of transparency of BT in general, and it's error reporting in particular, and also about some predictable attitudes toward Linux, but I'm returning this keyboard. (I'm working from a position of self-inflicted poverty, so the fact that the keyboard looks like it was born in a Fisher-Price factory - I'm willing to live with that.) Read more

I wanted a keyboard that would not rattle the household during late nights, but still handle spreadsheets, writing, and the occasional game. This AJAZZ AF98 Plus checks most of those boxes. The 98 percent layout keeps the numpad without hogging space, the volume knob is one of those little features you start using constantly, and the tri-mode connection lets me hop between a laptop, tablet, and desktop with a couple of taps. Typing feel is soft and quiet, which is the point of a membrane board, and the battery has been a marathoner. There are tradeoffs, mostly around Bluetooth finickiness and bare-bones instructions, but as an everyday driver it has been a tidy upgrade. My Rubric ✅ Good = qualifies as a selling point ➖ So-So = not great, but also nothing resembling a show stopper ❌ Not Good = Could be a show stopper My star ratings, which tend to skew upward due to limitations in the 5 star system are further elaborated in a decimalized scoring at the end of the review. Finally, although some items have been freely offered via the Vine system, I refuse to sell out and will never allow a vendor to influence my scoring through any means other than the quality of the product, both on its own and in relation to the current pricing at the time of my review. I value the efforts of other honest reviewers and wish nothing more than to pay their efforts forward in hopes of faithfully guiding others to informed decisions. The Good ✅ Soft, quiet key feel that keeps late-night work civil, with feedback that lands close to a mild brown-style vibe. ✅ Tri-mode connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4G dongle, and USB-C give me options for every device on my desk. ✅ 98 percent layout saves space while keeping the numpad and arrow cluster where my fingers expect them. ✅ Handy volume knob and media shortcuts make calls and music adjustments instant. ✅ Adjustable feet and low front edge help wrist comfort over long sessions. ✅ 4000 mAh battery has real staying power, and RGB backlight improves key visibility in dim rooms. ✅ Floating ABS keycaps are easy to pull and wipe clean, and the color blocking looks sharp. The So-So ➖ Key feel is intentionally cushioned, not crisp, so mechanical diehards may miss the sharper bounce. ➖ RGB options are basic, more set-and-forget accent than a deep lighting studio. ➖ Case acoustics lean a bit hollow if you bottom out hard, which I notice during fast typing. The Not-Good ❌ Bluetooth pairing can be temperamental on some systems, and the lack of clear, complete English setup instructions does not help a new user. The details Living with the AF98 Plus has been easy. Wireless switching is mapped to simple shortcuts, and the 2.4G link has been the most reliable for gaming or video calls. The Bluetooth slots are handy for toggling between a tablet and a laptop, though I keep the dongle parked in my main PC for rock-solid responsiveness. The volume knob earns its real estate, and the calculator shortcut gets more use than I would like to admit. The chassis is light enough to move easily, and the adjustable feet find a good angle without raising the front edge too high. I would love a richer lighting suite and a thicker case to tame the hollow thock when I get heavy-handed, but for quiet comfort and desk efficiency, the overall package makes sense. Final Rating: 4/5 (decimal score: 3.8/5, strong value if you want quiet tri-mode convenience and can tolerate basic BT setup and simple lighting). Read more

The keyboard sounded a little more hollow and plasticy than I thought. The build quality was good and the buttons and functions were nice, I especially liked the volume knob. But if you’re looking for a creamy keyboard, I did not think this was it. Otherwise a good keyboard for the money. Read more

I had the opportunity to try out the AJAZZ AF98 Plus Membrane Keyboard. This keyboard offers a compelling set of features for its price point, but it's important to understand its limitations. Visually, this keyboard makes a great first impression. I like the 98% layout; it’s a sweet spot for my workflow. I rely heavily on a 10-key number pad, and this design gives me almost all the keys of a full 104-key board without the excessive width. It's a fantastic space-saver on my desk. Connectivity is a strong suit here, offering both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth wireless options, which is a great versatility bonus. For the price, the overall value feels quite good. Small quality-of-life features like the dedicated media wheel are genuinely convenient, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a quick shortcut for the calculator – a minor detail but appreciated! The keyboard also features very basic LED lighting, which adds a bit of flair. While I haven't rigorously tested the battery life of the wireless functions over extended periods, I can confirm that the keyboard charged up without issue and worked flawlessly on battery power when needed, indicating its readiness for wireless use. However, this isn't a perfect keyboard, and its primary drawback stems from its membrane key design. If you're accustomed to the crisp, tactile feel of a mechanical keyboard, the keys on the AF98 Plus will likely feel a bit "mushy" in comparison. It's not terrible for a membrane, but it's a noticeable difference in typing feel. A significant frustration I encountered was the lack of clear English instructions. The included documentation was not in English, and a QR code provided for digital instructions unfortunately led to a dead link. This meant I had to resort to an internet search to figure out basic functions, such as how to switch to a wired connection (which turned out to be Function key + U). This lack of user-friendly setup guidance was quite inconvenient. Furthermore, while it has LED lighting, the options for customization and patterns are quite limited. I would recommend the AJAZZ AF98 Plus to individuals who, like me, are looking for a smaller footprint keyboard but absolutely need to retain the 10-key number pad. Its combination of features and connectivity at its price point makes it a good value. I also believe it could serve as a solid gaming keyboard for someone on a budget, offering wireless flexibility without breaking the bank. In summary, the AJAZZ AF98 Plus Membrane Keyboard is a decent offering that balances a desirable compact layout with essential features. It excels in its design and connectivity options for the price, but the membrane key feel and the frustrating lack of proper instructions hold it back from a higher rating. If you can overlook the slightly mushy keys and are prepared to do a little troubleshooting for initial setup, it's a worthwhile consideration, especially for budget-conscious users seeking a 98% layout.
