Let's face it. This is a very basic DVD player at a very basic price. I had purchased one a few months ago from a "close out" variety brick and mortar store for a little less than the price here on Amazon. I just picked up another one from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and thought I should comment. I bought this last player for one reason only. It is a superstar at playing burned backup copies of my DVD collection. I have several other (much more expensive, upconverting, etc.) DVD players in my house that have much trouble reading dual layer burned copies, but not this little Memorex player. I don't think the picture quite rivals my more expensive players, but it works fantasically for what I need it to do. If you need a DVD player that is cheap and plays anything you put in there...this is the one! I may be lucky one, but I am 2-for-2 on reliability (so far). Read more

The first one of these that I bought from Amazon broke within 5 uses, displaying a "split screen" effect that would not go away. Amazon replaced the product for me (good on them) but it didn't take the replacement much longer to just plain old stop playing DVD's. This product is a piece of junk and I highly recommend you stay as far away from it as possible. Read more

This player stop and stammers when playing audio, it seems to have trouble with both regular audio cds and MP3 cds. Some times it plays ok but when it doesn't it drives us a little crazy. I did get a pretty good static shock from it; then it started playing better (one time). Maybe that has something to do with it? Don't know. Read more

For a couple years we've had an MVD2015 for our extra old TV. We haven't experienced problems with the mechanisms, audio or remote. But it will only display in 4:3 Pan & Scan mode, even if 4:3 Letterbox or 16:9 are selected. The picture's Normal brightness seems abnormally dark, to compensate had to bump that up, and +1 on the contrast. Overall it seems merely adequate. Read more

I purchased 2 of these DVD Players because my old ones were no good and it was cheaper to buy new ones instead of getting the old ones fixed. One worked perfectly right out of the box. The second on had a defective laser lens. However, I called the manufacturer directly who gave me a RMA number and told me to contact Amazon. The replacement is the same make and model and works perfectly. A good buy for the money. I recommend keeping all the packaging until you have tested it out. Also, the remote doesn't work from a far distance so you may have to have it close by to use it and the power cord and plugs are short in length so if you have longer ones try using them of buy ones that will fit according to where you want to place the item.
