I guess these aren't called "wife beaters" anymore, which I never really understood why that would be a name for undershirts, because it's horrible, but anyway, these are perfect. Light materials, the right cut (like the aforementioned traditional shirt), and great quality. The style is great for under shirts or just as a tank or for dancers. It's tight but in the right way and extremely comfortable! Read more

I got the Large. My chest is 42" using a metal retractable measuring tape, on the low end of this Large chart. It's very snug around my chest, like just about stretching a whee bit, and that's without a wash. My stomach, ya, a bit wider at around 45". So with it stretching around my chest, you could imagine how it feels around my stomach. Luckily I purchased 3 different Large brands. The Large of Comfort Colors fit a bit better, but slightly baggy around the chest and snug around the stomach. But the Russell Athletic in Large fit the best. A little more than room in the chest and the stomach. I wear Large T-Shirts all the time. Almost all of them fit me great with ample room. It's ironic that the brand labeled as a "Muscle T-Shirt" fits me more comfortably than this described as "Wide Width for Better Fit". Oh well, just not for me. Read more

TAKEAWAY: These shirts were great before washing, then shrank after one wash to the point that they *barely* fit In more detail, I'm 6'2", 193 lbs, with a 42" chest. I have a closet full of A-shirts that just about reach my belt. Some are name-brand, others off-brand. Some are "tall" sized, others not. Some fit well enough out-of-the-box - but they all ended up shrinking in length to the point that I cannot wear them tucked without becoming untucked during normal activities, nor can I wear them untucked without looking like I have a child's shirt on. From reading the myriad reviews of these shirts that state how long they are, I thought I had found a winner. According to the size chart I'm on the lower end of a Large. Per some reviews, folks recommended going down one size for a snugger fit. So, I ordered a pack of Medium and a pack of Large, both black, 100% cotton. When they first arrived and I tried them on, I thought that my lengthy search for a truly-tall A-shirt was over. Both the Medium and Large were VERY long - like so long that I couldn't put my hands in the slash pockets of my shorts without hiking the shirt up first. Perfect! The Large clearly fit me better, but was still tight. After an hour of wearing, though, it loosened up a bit and fit perfectly - still form fitting, but comfortably so. I planned to order another pack in a different color, but wanted to wait until washing to make sure that the shirts still fit. To my dismay, after one wash on the cold cycle and hanging to dry, the Large shirts are barely long enough, and the armholes are cutting into my relatively modest pecs. If I were to order the 100% cotton shirts again, I would definitely get an XL and hope that they fit better after washing. The other colors that I am considering (Dark Gray, or Heather Gray) are both listed as 80% cotton / 20% polyester, though. I've been contemplating whether to order them in Large with the expectation that the polyester will help stabilize the fabric after washing, or whether to get XL and hope that they're not too big after washing. To conclude, these shirts have potential, but the dramatic shrinkage is a problem. If they were 2" longer after washing, I'd recommend them. As-is, maybe go up one size, and caveat emptor. Read more
