The patent leather is *superb*. I had a different shoe that I thought I kept in tip top shape, and this was noticeably better. The fit is perfect as well, and that's even before the break-in. It should have been a match made in heaven. It is unfashionably pointy in person that is not apparent in the pictures. It's not a natural pointy, it seems to be tapered in a way that a discerning (or too-discerning) eye perceives it as, I don't know? A spear point? They somehow photographed it in such an angle that there's no way I could have predicted it would turn out this way. I have seen people who wear shoes uncannily more pointy than this, so I am chalking this up to taste (de gustibus non disputandem, I guess) and won't give it low stars for that. There are people to whom this will be the bee's knees. The material choice, build quality, and fit are really great if this style is yours. These dress shoes look great! The faux leather has a nice, shiny, glossy finish that gives them a sophisticated appearance. While the faux leather material itself feels decent, the exterior does have a distinct, slightly plasticky feel. The sole feels fine and offers sufficient support for general wear. Regarding sizing, I typically wear between 9 and 9.5, and I ordered a size 9.5. Although my foot can fit in the shoe, I do find it a little tight on the sides, particularly across the forefoot area. I anticipate that with longer wear, they will stretch and become more comfortable, but it will definitely take some time to fully break them in. A significant point for comfort is the lack of breathability. As I don't see any air holes or perforations on this shoe, I feel that it would definitely get uncomfortably hot if worn for a longer period of time, such as a full workday or extended event. Overall, as these dress shoes are very well priced, I find them great for special occasions and probably limited wear due to their lack of breathability. You can’t tell me these don’t look classy. Words cannot adequately describe the shine on these shoes. Donning these I feel a bit like Fred Astaire and am tempted to go tap-dancing on some big stage somewhere. I didn’t notice the gold trim on the toe and heel when I ordered these, but I rather like it. It sets these apart from otherwise all-black-void shoes. Appearances aside, how are these? Well, they squeak. It’s not loud, but in a quiet room you’ll hear it. So wear these to big receptions, not quiet weddings. These fit my feet just fine, though the interior lining isn’t plush and your feet may hurt from standing after an hour or so. My pinky toes touch the thin shoe walls in a way that lets you know your foot is out of breathing room but doesn’t cause distress. The shoelaces are basic and cheap for such a fine-looking shoe. There's not really any tread here, so these are (of course) more for special occasions than for daily wear. Lastly, the gold-striped underside is a thing of beauty. Sure, they look kinda sharp in the pictures. That's to be expected. But in person, wow, these look super sharp! I was pleasantly surprised. They look really really nice - and the gold trim really sets these off. The fit just fine and seem to run true to size. The only minor issue is they do have a little bit of noise.
