I bought a black size 8 pair of Men's Vintage Leather Lace Up Platform Oxfords Shoes. My first impression on trying them on was that I would have to return them because the shoes do not have arch supports and the sole material seemed like it was too soft to wear well for walking on concrete sidewalks and other rough, hard surfaces, and the shoes seemed to be made for display but not for actual wearing. However, I decide after a couple of days to take out the removable insoles that the shoes came with, and replace them with insoles that have arch supports (which can be bought separately or borrowed from another pair of shoes). I walked around, and found that the shoes are wearable with the insoles replaced with ones that have arch supports. What I like about the shoes is that they have a classic and versatile plain-toe look, great for wearing on formal ocassions for wearing with a dress shirt and necktie, but are also suitable for less formal occasions like wearing with blue jeans. The shoes are not too dull and not too shiny, somewhere in between, and have a surface texture that is a whole lot easier to keep clean than similar shoes. The soles are thick enough, and the shoes are water repellant, making them good for wearing in heavy rain when there is perhaps a few millimeters or a fraction of an inch of water on the ground everywhere, or in thin slush and thin snow. The soles of the shoes grip well enough for walking on slippery surfaces like ceramic tile and waxed linoleum. As with similar shoes, they do have a strong rubber-like odor, which I anticipate will begin to fade after a few weeks out of the packaging. The shoes came with an individual bag for each shoe to protect them against scuffing, as well as a drawstring bag to put them into, nice for travel or storage. Also included is a pair of self-adhesive cushions which can be placed at the inside back of the shoes, helpful for people who are active or who do a lot of walking. I do not know if there is an absolutely perfect pair of shoes, so with every shoe purchase, I am still experimenting, but I have decided that I will keep the shoes, and find out how well the soles wear on sidewalks. This is the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. I wore it for about 2 weeks and it hurt my feet, I thought that it was because the shoe was new and need to be broken in. But this was not the case, the shoe is still uncomfortable after a month. The shoe is very poorly constructed and the right shoe feels like it has collapsed affects how to work while trying to compensate. The shoe was reasonably priced but the quality is very poor. Comfortable all-day, everyday wear work shoe. They typically last me about 4 years before either the sole heel starts to separate or the "leather" around the cuff start to peel. Also I'm a shoe tree and alcohol/tea tree oil sprayer every night. They typically run about a half size too small for me. I generally wear a Size 10 comfortably, but order these in a 10.5. Please don't buy it's not worth the price of $53. The style of shoe looks nice, but its not as comfortable as it look. No arch support which make it hard for me to walk in them. It looks and feel very cheap and I can really smell the chemicals on the shoes. I have worn them for over a week now. I can still smell the chemicals from the shoes.
