Back story: I recently took a fishing trip to Alaska where foul weather gear would be provided. I really dislike flying and even more dislike waiting for checked baggage so I repurposed my Amazon basics small duffle and crammed it with the bare minimum of things I would need. It fit under the seat in front of me, so worked great. However, I could have used one more warm jacket. When this duffle showed up on Vine, I thought I would try traveling with it and see if would work for my trip next year. It is definitely roomy enough to live out of for a week. I just returned from a camping trip where I made sure every day I repacked my one duffle and I had everything I needed. However, the decorative flaps on the front, while dressing it up, really just get in the way. Let’s look at the pix. The first one shows a zippered compartment inside the bag. Super helpful for those little things that would otherwise get lost. The next two pix show the decorative flaps, which actually just snap over, and are unnecessary because the pouches that they cover are zippered. I found they just got in the way. The next photo shows the whole bag, and it does look classy from a distance. The last one shows the zippered pouches – one on each end of the bag. After living out of it for a week, and thinking about whether or not it would be a good carry-on for air travel, I’ve decide a few things. (1) It is too large to fit under the seat in front of you so it will have to go in the overhead bin – something I like to avoid. (2) The material and construction are light to medium duty and will likely show signs of wear, or failure, if used often. (3) The decorative flaps are useless and I would have rather had better zippers and material than the flaps. (4) My opinion is that for what I wanted specifically – a duffle that would still fit under the airplane seat in front of me and hold enough for a three day fishing trip, I would have done away with the end pockets and made the rest of the bag slightly smaller. (4) There is a sleeve on the bag so you can put it on a rolling suitcase or luggage carrier handle, but it is too narrow to use on anything I have. (5) In spite of all that, the price is quite good, as long as you know what you are getting, so it’s got pretty good value. Read more

This is a large weekender bag. I bought this for my husband, but he hasn’t actually used it yet. He normally carries a rolling personal item bag when we travel, but it’s quite small, so I thought I’d see if he liked this one. It bag itself is made of a heavy quality canvas fabric. It has a detachable shoulder strap and handles for easy carrying. The outer pockets will be great for accessing in flight essentials easily. Once he uses it, I will update on the functionality. We are taking a road trip this weekend so he’s going to give it a try before using it on a flight. This is my reason for 4 stars-it’s an initial review, so I can’t honestly speak to functionality yet. I’ll update after packing. Read more
