This is a nifty razor, I have been shaving with a Merkur Safety razor for years now, a decision, I truly do not regret, this razor is the same as using a full size Merkur, just that it is sectional and comes in a leather like envelope, with a pack of razors for use, in it. I recently house sat for a friend and mustakingly used a single blade store bought plastic razor, big mistake, considering my heavy beard, hence the purchase of the travel Merkur. This razor is well made and good sized even for a gorilla hand like myself, I can't wait to use it, definite recommend for safety razor users, who want a travel version of the same well made brand of full size razors. Very nice razor. The only downside of the aluminium handle is the heat transfer; when you run the head under hot water the handle tends to heat up very quickly. Otherwise it makes for a good light weight, easily packed up travel razor. Read more

Definitely not my favorite for everyday use, but is top notch for a travel razor. Merkur did a great job and it is well made. The best travel safety razor I’ve ever found. I travel three days a week and it’s never let me down. Read more

My boyfriend has been using this razor for over ten years and it still looks and feels like it did when he first got it. He used this as his main razor when he first started because he wasn't sure he was going to like these types of razors. He was impressed with the quality and eventually got another Merkur razor (MK-23C) for his main one. This razor is apparently on the lighter side but not really an issue for him. The case is also of good quality since it still looks almost like new after all these years. No tearing or loose threads even after a ton of trips in his luggage. Read more

I have several DE razors and wanted a smaller one for travel. I like my full-sized Merkur, so I bought this one. I would be delighted except that the two-piece handle feels SO flimsy. The material it is made of feels like silver colored plastic, but it may very well be some lightweight metal alloy. The head of the razor appears to be the standard Merkur two-piece bar head, and it has the standard hard metal threads to attach it to the handle. The handle, whether metal or plastic, will eventually have its threads stripped. I believe that using extreme care when assembling and dis-assembling would be necessary if this travel razor is to give you more than just a few trips.
