Wow, this is my favorite household Microwave
This is my favorite appliance I've ever bought. I purchased this for home use, not commercial. I generally hate heating things in microwaves. I put up with it because it's faster than an oven. I've had maybe 10 - 15 home microwaves in my life. Everyone with microwaves just gets used to the poor performance thinking that's all there is out there. Even in the very best super expensive home microwaves they include video screens YouTube, cameras and Smarthome crap, and completely neglect the primary function, cook the food better. I asked all the high end stores if they cook any better than a 1990's home microwave, the honest salesman said no, I need to look at commercial microwaves. Fyi, home microwaves are 120volt up to 1200w cooking (~1500w used). This needs a 220volt plug for ~ 2400w cooking (3000w used). There is a huge difference with commercial designs. First off they are real stainless all over, not just some stainless looking foil glued over a plastic case. This model has 2 magnetrons (heaters). 1 on top and 1 on bottom, as opposed to 1 on the side. There is no need for a spinning plate, because the magnetron's have spinning antennas internally. This makes such a huge difference in even microwave heating, it's terrible that isn't standard on any home microwave at any price. I replaced a combo wall oven microwave. I wanted to give some pointers to those looking to do the same. First off my oven is 220v 6guage AL wire from the panel to a junction box for AL - CU that runs to the stove terminals. The existing microwave uses just 1 wire and the ground as a neutral. Unscrew the terminals, and remove the wires for the old microwave, and Wire up a 220v outlet to the screw terminals on the back of the oven. That's it. I checked with an electrician, because it does take double the power. There is no concern about that extra power draw on the wire, because all wall ovens are installed with symmetrical wire gauge sizes. The old microwave was putting ~1500 watts down 1 wire, with 220 models it puts the 3000watts spread across 2 wires. No need for changing the breaker, or increasing wire size from the panel to oven. This saved a lot of time and money. I was figuring I needed a whole new electric to the panel. - This thing cooks twice as fast!!!, take any food cook time, cut in half!!. I never need defrost, because this microwave cooks so evenly any where you put the food, I just straight cook from frozen. If you want to cook slower, then yes it has the option to reduce power to 20, 30, 40, 50% etc... - The buttons take getting used to, 1 = 10 seconds, 2 = 20, 3= 30... 5 = 1 minute, etc. There is a time entry. But the speed dial buttons are great once getting used to the faster cooking time. - It does not have a clock, which for restaurants doesn't matter, but is kind of a disappointment for home kitchens. I would not trade the microwave over lack of a clock function. Clocks are cheap. - The fan runs for 15 or more seconds after the door opens to help cool it off and remove odors. This is scary for first time guests in the house, they think the fan means it's still cooking them with the door open! It can be changed from 15 seconds up to a minute. - The keys lock out after a short time, until the door is opened. That's different, not a big deal. - The door opens easily, feels solid, not flimsy at all. Kids can slam this door over and over and even hang things on the handle on it and no need to worry about damage. - Cleans very easily, the bottom is smooth ceramic, with walls of real stainless steel. Not the typical painted steel that takes heavy scrubbing or chemical cleaners to get clean. - The bottom ceramic plate actually holds some heat, and keeps the bottoms from burning, and keeps it perfectly warm. This is actually amazing. Again, why the whole home microwave industry makes home users suffer is beyond me. I should've bought a commercial model years ago, it's actually cheaper than high end home models. Not cheap, but if you are going to spend on the high end home models, don't, get this one instead. - Water boils in 2 minutes, vs 5:30 in my 1200 watt microwave. More than twice as fast. Not only does the water boil faster, but the glass dish does not heat up as much as the regular microwave. Less time for the glass to absorb heat from boiling water is a good thing. No more potholders just grab and go. - 1:30 frozen breakfast sandwiches in 45 seconds, and no longer tastes like rubber, no cold spots!! - 3.5oz microwave popcorn cooks perfectly in 1minute 15 seconds. I typically get about 7 unpopped kernels. or less (compared to 50-75 or so in the old MW) - 18 + 4 minute lasagna cooks in 10 + 2 minutes. This in of itself is worthy of a TV advertisement video. Not only is it faster, but it cooks frozen meals so evenly, no burnt edges with frozen centers anymore. The cheese tastes like cheese and not rubber. I know prefer microwave lasagna, vs hour long oven baked. I can't say enough good things about this microwave, but I'm very pleased with my purchase. I can't believe it was backordered for 6 months and I held out instead of suffering with a more expensive high end Wolf, Jenn Air or Kitchen Aid junk. Sure those had YouTube and voice assistants, but if it can't cook, what good are those features? Read more
