I ordered the MIER Women's 3" Running Shorts with Mesh Liner in navy and medium size for my wife, who is training for the Tokyo Marathon on March 1, 2026. The race starts at 9:10 a.m. on a mostly flat urban course with minimal elevation change, and early March weather in Tokyo typically features cool morning starts around 42 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit, warming to highs of 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit under partly cloudy skies with low rain risk. These shorts have proven well-suited during her preparation and long runs for the full 42.2 km effort in these mild, variable conditions. The two-in-one design features a breathable outer shell of 90 percent polyester and 10 percent spandex, paired with a supportive mesh inner liner of 89 percent polyester and 11 percent spandex. The lightweight, quick-dry, four-way stretch fabric wicks moisture effectively over extended efforts, helping maintain comfort as body temperature rises through the race. The built-in liner delivers gentle support and chafe prevention without added bulk, which is essential for long-distance running where irritation can develop over hours. A four-panel continuous breathable mesh strip below the back waist boosts airflow, reducing the chance of overheating amid Tokyo's urban environment with buildings, crowds, and gradual warming through the day. The mid-waisted fit includes a 2.17-inch wide elastic waistband without a drawstring. It provides a snug, non-digging hold that adapts to movement, breathing shifts, and fatigue in later miles without slipping or restricting. This secure coverage stays reliably in place during strides, turns, or form adjustments on the flat but demanding course, offering dependable comfort and confidence without frequent readjustments. The modern dolphin hem creates a flattering, non-restrictive silhouette with an excellent range of motion for an efficient stride. The 3-inch inseam promotes ventilation and leg freedom, ideal for moderate paces in the expected mild weather, while still providing sufficient coverage for cooler morning starts around 45 degrees Fahrenheit and smooth transitions to warmer afternoon air. The standout feature for her is the four secure pockets: two front zipper pockets and two inner side pockets. These offer ample, bounce-free storage for essentials such as phone, keys, energy gels, cards, or ID. Zippered compartments keep valuables safe and secure during hours on pavement, minimizing distractions amid the crowded spectator zones and aid stations along the route. Reflective details, including strips on the back and a MIER logo label on the front, enhance visibility in lower light. While the daytime race ensures good natural light, these elements prove useful for pre-dawn warm-ups, evening training sessions, or any shaded urban sections. The quick-dry and lightweight construction allows rapid drying after sweat or light mist, supporting recovery post-race or between training days. These shorts handle high-intensity marathon demands while transitioning seamlessly to post-race walking, sightseeing, or casual activities in Tokyo. Overall, these shorts provide solid marathon-ready performance with breathability and support for sustained effort, plus security and reliability for long-distance use. The medium size aligns perfectly with standard athletic sizing for a true, non-restrictive feel, and she reports they feel great during runs. They deliver great value by focusing on functional essentials without excess weight or features that might cause overheating in variable conditions. A dependable choice for serious runners. Five stars. Read more

I picked these MIER running shorts up for my 13-year-old daughter since she’s been getting more active and taking her exercise seriously lately. After watching her put them through several workouts, I’m giving them a five-star rating because they actually hold up to the movement and don't feel like some cheap, thin material that’s going to fall apart after three washes. The mid-waist fit is a big plus because it stays in place while she's running around, and the built-in mesh liner provides the kind of coverage she needs without being bulky. My favorite feature as a dad is the zipper pockets. Usually, women's athletic gear has these tiny, useless pockets, but these actually secure a house key or a small item so she doesn't lose things while she's out. The fabric dries remarkably fast, which is a relief when she comes home after a sweatier workout and isn't just sitting in damp clothes. On the downside, the 3-inch inseam is definitely on the shorter side. It works fine for her age and for running specifically, but for general gym use, some might find them a bit brief. Also, while the quality is solid, the price is a bit higher than the basic shorts you’d find at a big-box store. However, seeing as they don't ride up or chafe during her runs, the value is there for me. It’s better to pay a little more for something she actually finds comfortable enough to wear every day. It’s a reliable piece of gear that does its job without any fuss. Read more
I love these shorts!!! As an avid runner, there are a few qualities I look for in shorts but mainly comfort while running and storage. Boy, do these pockets have storage!! Usually women's shorts have a pocket just large enough for a phone. The zipper pockets on these shorts are large enough to fit my phone, wallet, keys, pocket knife, pepper spray, taser, and more! Some days I don't want to wear a running vest to carry all of my random stuff, so these shorts are perfect to fit all of the junk I need for a shorter run. The quality is good and well constructed. The elastic waist band is wide and comfortable. The material is light and appealing color. However, I'm not giving these a 5 star because the inner lining does ride up the thighs. It becomes annoying to have to keep pulling your short's lining down every 5 minutes. The shorts are still comfortable to run in, but could be annoying if you have larger thighs that chafe or want to use these on a longer run. Read more
These shorts are cute, great quality, fit nicely, and are very comfortable to wear. The waistband is elastic but flat along the front so it sits really nicely and is comfortable to wear and stays in place when exercising. The material is soft and breathable and feels nice against my skin (including the mesh liner) and the shorts don’t ride up (which I really appreciate because I have big thighs, lol!) I love the light pink color (it’s slightly see through but all you see is the light pink liner unless I’m wearing black underwear, then they’re slightly visible in super bright lighting). They also have two zip pockets that can fit my phone and wallet and the shorts have a few reflective strips on them (which I really like since I walk around my neighborhood and depending on our route may have to cross a busy street and I want to be as visible as possible to drivers for safety) These shorts are a great value and I definitely recommend them.
