The smart roommate that actually cleans up after the pets

If you are tired of your house smelling like a wet dog or a litter box every time the sun hits the carpet you need the Mila Air Mini with the Critter Cuddler filter. I finally added this to my living room and it is the high tech assistant my home has been begging for. It is sleek and intentional and honestly looks more like a piece of high end furniture than a standard air purifier. The quality of the filtration is a total 10 out of 10. The Critter Cuddler filter is medical grade H13 HEPA and it has a serious amount of carbon that actually targets ammonia and pet odors rather than just masking them. I love the smart features too because the app gives me so much data and even has a quiet mode so it does not scare the pets. It is the perfect gorgeous solution for keeping the air fresh during the spring and summer shedding seasons. For the price you are getting a device that is way smarter than your average purifier. The aesthetics with the modern design and wooden legs are just the cherry on top for any room. If you want to stop worrying about allergens and "animal funk" and start breathing clean air this is the ultimate smart home investment. It is simple effective and looks amazing. Read more

Easy setup, smart, ton of settings and features, works great, and looks nice.

Update: This thing is still amazing. Yesterday, I put waffles into my toaster, and the toaster started smoking and stunk badly. There wasn't a huge amount of smoke because I had instantly unplugged the toaster. The toaster is downstairs in my home, and this purifier is upstairs. Within minutes, this purifier alerted me that something was wrong with the air. The fans kicked into high gear and cleaned the bad air. Not only did it clean the air, but it also removed the burning smell. I have a few other air purifiers in my home with auto modes, and none of them recognized the bad air quality. Not even the 2 I have downstairs where the smoke came from. All of my other units are from brand-name companies. Before I came across this purifier, I had never even heard of the name, but I decided to try it for the smart features, and I'm glad I did. Original Review: I have allergies to pollen, dust, and animals. I own quite a few air purifiers for different areas in my home. This is my first smart purifier, and I love the features. This Mila Air mini smart air purifier has many different filters. This listing is for the critter cuddler h13 filter. My review is for the overreactor H14 filter. It is the same purifier, just a different filter. This arrived nicely packaged and protected by thick foam. The first thing you need to do is remove the plastic wrap around the filter. The side panel is magnetic and makes access to the filter very simple. After that, just plug it in and turn it on. On the bottom is a main power switch. It takes about a minute for all the sensors to calibrate. There is a big, easy to read digital display on the top with 3 buttons. You can use this without wifi and smart features, but it will give you limited information. I don't usually add apps to my device from companies I'm not familiar with, but I gave this one a chance. It is in the Play Store and also pairs to google Home, and you can add it as an alexa skill. This will allow you to control it from google or alexa. You have to make an account on the app. You do have to add a location so you can get outdoor air quality info. You do have the option to delete the location after setup. Once setup, the app displays a ton of information that you can't get without using the smart feature. This unit is equipped with a bunch of sensors that show temperature, humidity, indoor and outdoor air quality, VOCs, CO, CO2, PM 1, PM 2.5, and PM 10. It also has graphs and data that show previous air quality. You can view the hour, day, week, or month. You can set alerts and notifications. This is great for carbon monoxide because you can see or smell it. You can get a notification when the level is heigh. The temperature notification is nice when you have pets at home and want to remotely turn on heat or A/C. It could also come in handy if there is a fire. You can get alerts and notifications for other stuff, but those are probably the most important to me. Not all of my air purifiers recognize and remove VOCs. This makes a big difference when you use aerosol cans, when furniture is off gassing, etc. It not only helps remove the VOCs, but it helps remove the smell of them. As you can see in my photo, this showed a poor temperature in my upstairs. It hit 81° because I haven't installed my A/C units yet this year. I love being able to control this remotely when im not home from my phone or tablet. When I'm home, I usually use my google Hub or Firetv. There are a ton of modes for this purifier. You can set a bedtime schedule where this will dim the screen and quiet down. You also have an option for it to make white noise like a sound machine. You can control this manually or use the auto feature called automagic. The automagic has the regular auto preset auto mode that I prefer and another 8 different modes. When you click on each mode, it will give you a summary of what that mode does. There is some kind of sensor on this unit that can sense when I get close to it. The screen will turn on as I approach it. I left my windows open when I left for work the other day. I had this purifier powered off. I'll never turn it off again. My neighbor had a fire in his pit, and the smoke filled up my house. When I turned this machine on, it showed high levels but did clean the air quickly. That was a great test. Read more

Overall, a nice air purifier.

So far I am really liking this air purifier. It has great marketing and branding with it, which, I feel, shows there's been a lot of thought behind the making of this unit (and not the bare minimum viable product to make a buck out of China). It looks very attractive sitting in the corner of my living room. The living room is next to the kitchen and I got this mainly because of kitchen odors from cooking certain foods. I was able to give it a true test last night when I cooked some Mediterranean style kebabs that normally stink up the kitchen, which you really only notice if you leave the room and come back. So I did that. The smell was noticeably less, not totally gone, but far better, so I knew it was doing something. The cool thing is that it seems to sense odors and pollutants in the air and turn itself on to a higher level (as you'd expect it to). When it does that, you can hear the fan going, but when it's just in normal operation mode, you can't hear anything. It does not come with any manual, I guess to save paper(?) The only documentation in the box is a postcard with some balloons, which I guess you can use to test the air speed and power of the fan. On this postcard is a QR code that only says "learn more about the magic of Mila"....which to me just sounds like marketing, yet it is a link to the app. I think it should tell you that, because the app is what you need to complete the set-up. I am pretty tech savvy, and kind of assumed that this was the case, but I think a lot of people would be wondering where the manual is, or how to download the app. And they'd likely otherwise ignore the QR code, as the verbiage around the code sounds like it's just to tell you more about Mila, the company....not the unit one just purchased. The app set up was pretty easy. Though initially it tells you to press the center button on the unit's screen for 5 seconds. When I did that, nothing happened. There's no physical button, just a tiny area of the screen that is touch sensitive. I realized that the sensitive area of the "button" is very small. I have average sized fingers, so I had to move my finger around the area before it sensed my touch and then held it there for 5 seconds. After that the connection to the app on my iPhone was pretty easy. I guess the company assumes that everyone who purchases this unit will have a smartphone, because I believe you won't get the full features of the unit without connecting it to a phone. Once I connected it, the firmware updated, which I guess it couldn't do before connecting it to a phone, which then connects the unit to your WiFi (i.e. you can't connect the unit to your WiFi without a phone, but if you can, there's no indication as to how). Once it was all set, the screen told me there is a high pollen count in the air today, yet on the app, it says nothing. I would think what's on the screen of the unit should be shared with the app, right? Doesn't seem to be the case. Not sure why. Also under voice assistants in the app, it only shows Apple HomeKit, yet the description on the listing says it works with Alexa, so not sure then how to connect it to my Alexa system. So despite the few shortcomings, I think this is a really nice unit. A bit expensive, but hopefully you get what you pay for in air quality. So far, so good. But at this price, and all this thought into the branding, you'd think they'd have addressed the issues I described in my review here. Read more
