Very soft and plushy. I placed this in a campus prayer space where over 2 dozens students use it daily. It is very soft on the knees and looks exactly like the pictures. A great prayer rug. We kept finding mysterious red fiber throughout the house. Good thing my wife is not jealous or I'd be in trouble. It sheds more than 10 cats, so much so that it clogged the washing machine filter!
