Tried a bunch of mounts and this one finally sticks. The vacuum base locks down solid on a clean, flat spot and has not budged in San Diego heat. MagSafe grab is strong enough for my iPhone, even over potholes, and the 360 swivel makes it easy to flip to landscape for Maps. I like that it folds down small when I am not using it. I have struggled to find a phone holder that will work with the interior design / shape of my Corolla, most holders will not stick to the rough surface of my dash, not for long anyway. I am trying this phone holder in a different manner. I have an iPhone 16, so the magnet feature works very well. To find a suitable surface to stitch the holder, I have elected to use an auxiliary cup holder that is not part of the vehicle’s original interior. The surface inside the cup holder is flat and smooth and the vacuum feature and the stickiness of the holder bonds well with the cup holder. It’s not the ideal location, but I’m getting used to it. This device feels like it is quality made, the swing joints move smoothly, yet hold the place you put it. The suction cup aspect works well, I just pressed down on the holder while turning the clicking dial and it has been holding well. Of course I cleaned and dried the surface as per instructions to insure a good bond. I guess if I were to want this device to do more, I would prefer the arm to be a little longer and be able to articulate the magnetic part to be able to fine tune the phone’s position. For the time being I am satisfied it’s this holder, finding one that actually works for a long period of time has been a challenge. This holder has a functional design and is a reasonable size, fits well in my cup holder. I think the removal process may be more challenging because the bond seems very strong. I've become quite enamored with these magnetic/vacuum devices. After I got my first one, I found that I really wanted to have one in several different locations - one in each car, one at my desk, one for air travel. They don't charge my phone, so it's not what I use when I'm driving, but they're great on the passenger side on a long trip - I guess I couldn't really tell you why I don't mind running a charging cable over to that side of the car. But that's how I use them. By putting the rotary ring on the base that pulls the vacuum, they've really figured out a great way to attach the base to a vitreous surface, such as glass. The big lever-action suction cups don't seem to work as well as these rotary mechanisms. One aspect of that (I think) is that you aren't applying as much torque to the device as you draw the vacuum, which kind of works against you, and somewhat prevents you from getting a strong vacuum. Whatever it is, these device seem to work better. The magnetic head that holds your phone is another great design feature. It's so much easier to use than the old-fashioned clamps that were in use in the past. For one thing, these magnets are one-handed mount and unmount. No problem if your phone doesn't have a ferrous ring built-in to it - this device comes with one that you can stick to the back of your phone or your phone case. That's what I've done with my Note 20. It works great. This device has just the right amount of magnetic strength in the head. It's strong enough that it reliably holds my phone during the normal bumps and shakes of a car ride, but it's not so strong as to overcome the suction cup and tear the device off of the attached surface when you pull your phone off of it. That's a great balance that not all of these devices get right. This particular device has (I think) a metal bar that holds the phone, even though it's still very light-weight over all. The magnet strength is fantastic. The part that failed me was the suction cup. It might be because of the texture on my dashboard, which is why I gave them two stars and not one, but I did affix it to a flat section and it held strong for maybe a week. Read more
