Who needs a heated mask for eyes? Everyone!! We all have meibomium glands around our eye lids that emit an oil that keeps our eyes lubricated. Before my most recent eye check-up, I thought my vision seemed a bit smudged. At the visit, my opthalmologist noticed it and commented that my eyes are drying out too much. The solution? Application of heat to the eyelids softens the clogged pores and restores proper lubrication. I’ve tried numerous masks for sleep but find most uncomfortable. I recently purchased a Blinkjoy brand moisturizing sleep mask and it has been the most comfortable mask of all, but it doesn’t provide heat. I was excited to order another great Blinkjoy product that is heated in the microwave. No cords to deal with, no having to remember to recharge! I’ve been using this at night as I’m trying to get to sleep. I find the heat is very relaxing and blocks light as I’m dozing off, and I don’t have to worry that a heated device might get too hot and cause damage. I pull the mask off sometime during the night after I’ve gotten to sleep, after the mask has completely cooled down, then I quickly return to a restful sleep. The eye pads are puffy, little “bean bag” type cushions that are actually filled with clay beads. Unlike a sleep mask that typically is designed to provide absolutely no touch to the eyes or lids, this mask is intended to be used with the eyes closed and the eye cups provide gentle pressure so the heat is applied directly to the lids. Each eye cup has two strips of cotton band on back to slide on and attach to the headband. After microwaving the eye cups for 20-25 seconds, the cups are slipped back onto the headband and the band is secured on the head using a velcro closure. It is a fairly narrow strip across the eyes and the cups can be positioned so there is no annoying pressure on the bridge of the nose. To keep the fabric-covered eye cups clean and free of skin oils or makeup, the package includes a microfiber cloth to place between eyes and mask when in use. This mask appears to be well made. I especially like being able to adjust the positioning of the eye cups. Once heated, it remains warm for approximately 15 minutes. While it is nice not having to charge a battery powered device, my only objection is that I like to read in bed before sleep, and I don’t have a microwave near my bedroom. When ready for sleep, I have to go downstairs to heat in the microwave, then slide the cushions back onto the band, then return to bed. Of course, I could simply use this in the morning as I’m enjoying my morning coffee, so will have to figure this out. But I really enjoy the soothing warmth when getting to sleep. I do wish the eye pads didn’t have to be removed from the band before microwaving. I see nothing metallic that could interfere with the microwave, but I’ll definitely continue to follow directions and will remove them from the band before heating. I also wish the beads would remain heated for a bit longer, but they are warm for about 10-15 minutes, which really is adequate. This mask definitely does what it is intended to do. I use eye masks frequently, both those that need to be charged and those that can be heated in the microwave. I like both. This mask needs to be heated in the microwave. The mask arrived very well packed indeed. All the information that I need to use the mask and its care is provided very clearly, in a font of readable size. When opened, the mask is clearly of excellent quality. It is very well made and sturdy. The material seems to be of good quality and I like removing the heating compresses to heat them instead of heating the entire mask or having a compress that is placed on the eyes and can slide off. The heating compresses I usually heat for about 25 seconds. That heats them sufficiently to last the 4-5 minutes for which I use this mask. Slipping the heated compresses back onto the strap is easy. I place the mask cover on and then the mask itself and they are easily adjusted on the eyes., to fit most comfortably. . They are well designed and fit my eyes snugly. The strap wraps neatly around my head The fastener is of excellent quality and does not snag my hair. I start feeling the relief almost immediately. I like the idea of the mask cover. It keeps the mask clean. I use any soft material as a mask cover now. I use this mask when I need to relax my eyes for short periods of 3-5 minutes. Works very well for that. I've been looking for heated eye mask as my eyes been extremely dry and painful. This mask is absolute eye saver! When I first opened box I thought it looked a bit odd, way more medical than I expected. Eye patch area is adjustable to your eye width for most comfortable position, that's definitely a plus. Size is just perfect and you have this silk like cover that I place on top of eye patch area for easy cleaning and more pleasant feel. Mask sits very comfortable around my head. You can sit or lay down, mask will stay in place. Belt is highly adjustable to various sizes. Velcro is very good quality, it doesn't not stick to your hair and small enough where it doesn't get stuff get stuck to it. I followed instructions on heating time precisely since too much heat is actually bad for your eyes and can cause more issues than good. It felt slightly warm to the touch after 20 seconds of heating time but please trust the process! 20 seconds is really all you need for standard microwaves. I placed it for about 10 minutes and it felt really great. Even and lasting warmth throughout whole 10 minutes. No pressure on eyes. What's even more amazing is that when I took mask off, my eyes felt like I was holding warm moist compress. I have no idea how whole science behind it works but it made my eyes feel like I went to eye spa. Right after use, I did several hard blinks to help eye oils expelled per Dr recommended instructions and wow it made a huge difference on my eyes. They absolutely felt more moisturized and less dry.
