I will say that this does seem to absorb the water when you step on it. It is soft to step and has been durable so far. It comes in a roll so you do have to take the time to flatten it out. If you have a bathroom that needs a true gray mat, this one is more of a beige gray and may not work for you. Comfortable to walk on with just a hint of cushion.
