I just had new flooring put in and tho it is supposed to be able to withstand almost anything, I didn;t want to take a chance of my bike scratching the floor making noise because the bike was on a hard floor. I ordered this mat and am pleasantly surprised at everything about it. It lies flat. It is the perfect size (mine is 66 inches...I wanted a little extra at both ends and recommend this to you). It is light weight but sturdy. I think it is absorbing noise since I am not hearing any.
