I owned one of these back in the early 80's and was constantly kidded about using a toilet paper roll for a filter. But I was painting Show Corvettes and found it to work perfectly. It's been years since I restored a Vette but I needed to do some minor body work and paint repair to a used Suburban I bought and needed a good filter system to use fro painting the panels. This filter immediately came to mind so I did some surfing and found that they still make it and have improved it since my last purchase almost 40 years ago. They now supply a great filter to use inside the unit that works extremely well. They are readily available and reasonably priced. They also eliminate the possibility of deterioration of the toilet paper roll that was possible if you didn't change the roll frequently. I only use mine with a dedicated air supply line to the filter and also a dedicated airline to the paint gun to eliminate the possibility of contamination when using air tools with oil. When using the air tools I remove the filter from the airline system by bypassing the filter and connecting my compressor after the filter system. I then connect to a oiler and dryer filter designed for such use with tools and separate air lines. Read more
