I've had a lot of these drip coffee makers. I'm fussy about my coffee and only drink one kind that I get at my local coffeemaker I am just too lazy to use anything else early in the morning to make coffee except a drip machine. So what is important to me is getting a clean brew process. Which means all I'm looking for is the boiling water to be efficiently poured over the grounds and then for that resulting coffee to filter into the carafe in a manner that maximizes the flavor from the grounds and does not contaminate the coffee with dirty elements of the coffee machine that might build up over time. This does that and costs $22 where I think you could pay $222 and basically get a drip coffee maker that looks fancier and is steel but is actually more difficult to clean. For a clean brew every time, I only need to rinse out the carafe, rinse off the top of the carafe and a rinse of the basket. I will note that this is made like a toy and these plastic parts could break easily. But I think that is true of all the newer ones they make and even the expensive ones. At least this one is cheap to replace should any of the parts break. (like the carafe is something I'll fumble sometimes and $22 is not a terrible penalty to pay for that clumsiness. However, with gentle handling, the basket is very easy to remove and clean and the carafe too. Read more

Great Coffee Maker! I love my Mr. Coffee Programmable coffee maker! I have yet to wake up to a bad cup of coffee! I set it up at night, and wake up to the fresh smell of coffee. It's nice, because I dont have to wake up, set it up, then wait for my coffee to brew. It's extremely easy to program and set up. As you can see by the pictures, I drain different coffees at different times. All I have to do is put the filter in, then the coffee, and set it up to brew at a certain time. D warmer stays on for quite a while, so you can get a fresh cup of hot coffee anytime. It is worthy to note however that the coffee pot will shut it self off if there is no liquid in the carafe. That makes it nice, because you don't have to worry about burnt coffee in the bottom of your coffee pot the next time you have to use it. In my opinion, it's one of the best coffee makers I have used. It's so easy to use! I'm not a techie, so I appreciate something simple. It brews great coffee. You can use filters, or if you prefer, you can used filter packets that have the coffee already sealed in a filter. It's easy to wash. The carafe is sturdy, so it can be washed in the dishwasher. I use a clean rag to clean the rest. I highly recommend this coffee maker! It's a great kitchen appliance for the price! Read more

When you're completely satisfied with a product you've had for a decade, but then have to replace it (lightning electrical surge got it) - you're always concerned if the newer, updated product will match the reliability of the past. Absolutely, yes. The features have been updated vs. the decade-old Mr. Coffee, and at first it was "I wish they'd've just left it exactly the same." But then, after several weeks of use, I'm actually very thankful for the upgrades. The biggest difference is how the coffee filter is housed in a swing-out holder that detaches. I read a glass-half-empty reviewer that said they expected the pins that hold the basket to eventually break off. I cannot see how that would even be possible; the pins are solidly constructed in a one-piece process. The buttons are significantly bigger and easier to both see and use than its predecessor. At first I was confused by the On - Delay - Off button, but quickly figured out that it was intuitively set up as a 3 push response. Wherever you are in the process, one push takes you to the next of the 3 options. Read the owners manual once - got it for life. Done. Overall, a much better product than the one I was already completely satisfied with. And at a terrific price. TY Mr. Coffee. Read more

I bought this coffee pot because I wanted a cheap and efficient model to brew up a large pot of coffee to drink while working at home. Mr. Coffee has always been a pretty good brand I've found, and this coffee pot does what you'd expect a reasonably priced coffee maker to do. It works, it's simple to operate, and it makes a good pot of coffee without making a mess on your counter. The coffee maker is very easy to fill up with its flip top design that you pour the water right in. You can see the fill line on the side of it so you can figure out how many cups you want pretty easily. The plastic filter basket where you put your coffee filters swings open and closes tightly. I've used the machine almost daily for three months and haven't had any issues with the filter assembly so far. You can remove the assembly so that it is easy to wash. I've run it through the dishwasher with no trouble. As for filters, I've found that you want to use the basket type over the cone type for these. The cone types tend to make a bit of a mess and you can get grounds everywhere. I've switched to using the Mr. Coffee permanent filter basket style for this coffee maker and it works perfectly for me. No grounds anywhere, easy to pull out and clean up when I take the filter off, and I have run both the filter basket assembly and the permanent filter through my dishwasher on the top rack and have had no issues. The coffee maker also has some basic settings that you can use to time delay a pot of coffee, and I've found that it works as you'd expect. It's pretty easy to program it for this. The coffee maker will shut itself off after two hours or so. There are only a couple minor issues that I have with the maker. First minor issue is that the maker tends to make a few random noises here and there after the pot is brewed that sort of sound like it is still processing coffee. They don't last very long, and it's probably just steam venting off or something, but it does make me wonder a bit about what it is doing. The other minor issue that I have is that there is no warning that the coffee pot is shutting itself off after two hours. As I like to brew a pot in the early morning and drink coffee until around noon or so, I end up having to pay attention to the pot and turn it back on every couple hours or so. Even with my minor complaints, this is a perfectly serviceable inexpensive coffee maker if you are just looking for something cheap to get your morning joe. It doesn't grind beans, doesn't handle k-cups, or make you cappuccino or espresso, but it does make a hot pot of simple black coffee for around 20 bucks and does it consistently. Sometimes old school gets the job done just right. This coffee maker is a good example of that. I recommend it. Read more
