I purchased this thumb stabilizer for my wife after she started experiencing persistent thumb strain from daily overuse. After trying a couple generic braces in the past, this one immediately stood out in terms of design and usability. The adjustability is excellent. The strap system allows for precise compression, so you can tailor the fit depending on how much support is needed that day. It provides firm stabilization at the thumb joint without immobilizing the entire hand, which makes a big difference for everyday functionality. The materials feel durable and breathable, and the construction doesn’t come across as flimsy. The hook-and-loop closure maintains its grip well throughout the day without constant readjustment. It’s also relatively low-profile, so it doesn’t feel cumbersome during normal activities. If I had one minor critique, it’s that there’s a brief break-in period while you fine-tune the strap positioning for optimal comfort. Once adjusted properly, though, it performs exactly as intended. Overall, this is a well-executed, practical support brace that delivers reliable stability without unnecessary bulk. Would confidently purchase again. Read more
This is an excellent product! Been using it 24/7 for 6 weeks now, and it really helps for a sprained thumb joint. They really designed this brace well. You can still type and do everything else but it stops your thumb and wrist from moving in extreme angles giving you a chance to heal. The Velcro has held up fine, even after taking it on and off tons of times. The adjustable straps allow it to fit perfectly. I also like how it's not too large and bulky. For the price, this thing is an incredible value and really works! Read more
I've worn this brace for exactly four (4) weeks today. The first day was a challenge because I have small hands and the v-space between the thumb and hand pinched my hand terribly. I purchased a hand sock to go underneath and the problem was solved. The first two weeks were a God send. The brace fit snuggly and my thumb was stable with no discomfort. The brace is very lightweight and the material is airy and breathable. I could sleep with no added discomfort from the brace. Now fast forward two weeks. I noticed the brace starting to slip to where the metal supports on each side of the thumb were no longer positioned correctly. This caused significant pain when I moved my hand, I adjusted the brace accordingly to reposition it. Three weeks later. The velcro (especially around the thumb), doesn't hold well at al and now I have to readjust the brace multiple times a day. The material has stretched during use. The stretching, combined with the velcro not holding, has made the perfect brace, just an "alright" brace - that's why I gave it four (4) stars. I need to keep a brace on for two (2) more weeks. I may have to purchace another one to make it through that time. While they are not that expensive, I would have thought one would last through the injury time. I don't think that this would be a problem for people with bigger hands. Read more
The fit on this is great and super adjustable. I was worried it might be too big, but nope! Really hope this helps my thumb which has some damage to the ligaments where the thumb meets the hand. It does a great job of supporting and stabilizing while not cutting off circulation to the fingers. Bonus: this item cost 3x more at my local Walgreens so yay for Amazon. Read more
So, I have an overuse injury of my left thumb (partial texting, partial bicycle riding, partial old hyper extension injury). What I need is to stabilize and decrease motion of the thumb so it can rest and heal. My original injury used to be called a gamekeepers thumb (although my tendon is not avulsed). Since I believe in staying with name brands I tried this brace and one by Ace. Both are comfortable, both help remind me not to overuse the thumb, and both have stays, but this one allowed for more flexibility in adjusting the amount of support while still providing some thumb movement, but also really supports the wrist (necessary to adequately restrict the thumb). It also allows for more variation in how much support you create, but even in the looser adjustments still provides thumb support. This brace customizes its fit using velcro closures - 2 at the wrist and one over the thumb. This allows you to create a comfortable fit for the hand yet keep the thumb restricted. You don't need to tighten it way down over the hand (which squeezes the hand) to get the support you need. The stays used in this splint are long (extending from the wrist to over the thumb joint) and are shaped well to place the thumb in a natural but supported position. Compared to the Ace, this is a more robust device, provides much better support and will I think last longer thru washings and extended use. It is more bulky though. I thought about the Grey, but didn't see spending the extra money. In either case it will be obvious that you're wearing a device. I've seen some reviewers of these stability devices say that the device allows for support but continues to allow texting. News flash!. Getting over texting thumb requires stopping the use of your thumb for texting!!! So if that's your goal (to continue texting) this is NOT the device for you because it actually works to restrict the thumb motion in a manner that makes texting difficult to do. In other words it does what it's supposed to!! From a sizing perspective, I believe this device (compared to the Ace) provides more meaningful flexibility for obtaining a good fit with different sized hands. I'm an adult make with moderate sized (7.5 surgical glove size) hands, and there is still lots of adjustment potential both up and down. Conclusion: I really like this device. If you're serious about rehabilitating your thumb injury, I think this is an excellent option. Mueller is a company that's been around a long time. My family has used their stabilizers for other joints as well. They still hold up. Give it a go!! Read more
I was unsure if this would fit, since I am a petite woman with small hands. However, it fits well. This brace worked wonders, stabilizing both my wrist and thumb. It was comfortable to wear, day and night, and the material is breathable. The length of the brace is just right -- long enough to protect the whole wrist, but not so long that it hampers use of your hand and arm. The stabilizers are strong and sturdy, yet lightweight. Highly recommend this brace. Read more
