My dog absolutely adores this toy. He carries it around the house with him, sleeps with it, I’ve never had a toy he’s enjoyed more. With that being said, I wouldn’t recommend this toy to a dog that destroys their toys. It is super easy to chew apart and could pose as a choking hazard but other than that I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and neither can my dog. Read more

My Great Dane loves toys with an unusual squeaking noise. This grunting hippo is a favorite of hers. She is not an aggressive chewer so I expect she'll be tossing this around and driving me crazy with the squeak for a long time. Read more
My dogs are still young and so I have been on a search for a good toy for them. I was especially looking for a squeaking one because my male loves the noise. Upside ...he LOVES this toy. The noise hits all the right notes for him and he'll spend hours on it. Downside....he LOVES this toy and it is nowhere near strong enough to stand up to him and is demolished within a week. I give it 4 stars because there is no denying that the enjoyment he gets from these is unparalleled. Truly, there is only one or two other toys that are comparable. However, unless your dog is gentler on their toys; it's likely to pose too much of a hazard/mess. I can only give my dog these if the play time is supervised. Read more
I came across this dog toy at a Thanksgiving dinner, where their dog really loved the grunt the toy made. When I found it on Amazon, it was listed as an add-on item, so I included it in my order. It was apparently out of stock and was shipped separately (great customer service). The hippo makes a delightful grunt that everybody will love. My dog has been playing with it for about a month now and it has become one of his favorites. The grunting mechanism has dislodged from the hippo's mouth, so it takes some manipulation to get the noise, but there is no worry about the possibility of the mechanism being swallowed. It is a long pipe-shaped item, about five or six inches long. The rubbery toy has held up well to chewing, although my dog is not one of those that destroys things in minutes. Read more
This is a great toy. The honking noise maker is much more pleasant than the typical high pitched squeaker, and my dog--very briefly--REALLY enjoyed playing with it. Unfortunately, it only remained FUN for a couple-few hours before the noisemaker quit, as compared to the same toy, bought in a brick and mortar store, which continued making noise for over a week. I feel certain that the lifespan of the noisemaker was shortened by the fact that it shipped out in a Mylar envelope with zero protection, presumably getting crushed and honked all along the way. I wish Amazon cared more about the stuff they ship arriving in good working order and/or undamaged. Note: as you can see, the rest of the toy is intact although dirty. If you have a dog who would enjoy playing with a latex toy that doesn't make any noise, then this is the toy for you. For us, at this price point and considering the less than ideal sustainability of the product materials, overall this was very disappointing. Read more
