Not practical for outdoors
The clothespin bag I've used for years is awesome, but it also was my grandmother's and now it's disintegrating with age. I was ready to try a different design -- it could be better! ... But it's not. I mean, it's not terrible, but it's far from ideal. First, this is a mesh bag with reinforcement sewn at the bottom. There's a large circular opening on the side for reaching in and grabbing pins. (The sewing on this bag is perfunctory -- the ends of the reinforcing ribbons stick out the front.) The hanger part is all plastic; the hook on top can turn a full 360. So I took it outside and, oof, frustrating. Unlike my old bag which has a bent metal frame that keeps it always facing up and out on a clothesline, this one just kept flopping all over the place. Whenever I reached for it, it was facing the other way. I tried to keep it stable with a clothespin, but nope! So unless you pick a day with zero breeze or wind, you'll be pawing at it constantly. (I'd think leaving this one hanging in full sun all the time would also be a no-go because that plastic will likely degrade over time.) Basically the hanger on this bag isn't very practical for an outdoor clothesline; it's headed for the basement line. Read more
