No smarter than a pair of bluetooth earbuds but worse sounding

JBergMarch 8, 2024

Really love the idea of smart glasses and I've been in the market for something that's let's me easily talk to an AI assistant while on the go. I was really excited to get these but almost immediately I was disappointed. The software is just not there so the "smart" features are nothing more than any wireless bluetooth controller can accomplish. These can call up the assistant on your phone and that's about it for "smart" features. At the time of writing, the android companion app is basically just a wrapper around chatGPT and can't even be triggered via the headset controls. You have to manually click on the mic button in the app to be able to talk to it through the headset and even then all you get is the ability to ask chatGPT questions That's it. It can't integrate with anything on your phone, can't set timers, remind you, read email, send text etc. The app has to be in the foreground and there's no way to trigger it without taking your phone out of your pocket. You may have better luck with your phone's built in assistant. On android it does work well to call up google assistant and I was able to use it with the newer Gemini which proved equally useless as the gpt app did. So you get about as many smart features with these glasses as you do with your phone and a pair of dollar store bluetooth earbuds. The sound quality is not great. The open air design is nice because it leaves your ears free but the volume is super low. Music sounds decent, a bit tinny and lacking nearly all bass but it almost feels like you're listening in surround sound which can be enjoyable. The main problem is the volume. I tried these in my quiet living room at 11pm at night when everyone was asleep and at absolutely full volume the music was what I would call medium volume on any other headset. No way I would be able to hear a thing on the train to work or walking around the city. Making things worse is that the open air design makes your audio easily audible to others around you. You can clearly make out what song someone 10 feet away is listening too. If these were to fulfill the "smart" promise I'm not sure I want my text messages or chatGPT conversations played in open air where the person next to me on the train can hear every detail. The hardware is okay. The sunglasses are a step above what you'd find at a department store but nowhere near something higher end. The arms are very wide to hold the electronics which makes them awkward to wear. I feel like these would slip off my head if I made any sudden moves. I was surprised how cheap the buttons feel. There's a weird give to them and they can be moved slightly side to side without triggering them. It just doesn't feel premium at all. The whole thing seems to rattle when I move. All in all it just feels like a cheap toy. Overall I was very disappointed in these "smart" glasses. The idea is there and I'm the target audience for this product, however at this time I can't see why I would ever wear these over my cheapo wireless earbuds and my current sunglasses which I've owned for years. BE WARNED!! DOESNT WORK WITH ALL ANDROID PHONES

BuckDaddy85September 8, 2024✓ Verified purchase

So their site claims that it works with Apple iPhones and Android phones and this is true to a point. Glasses must connect to the voice assistant that's on the phone and the only two voice assistants that the glasses will connect with is Apple's Siri and Samsung's Bixby. It will not connect with the Google Assistant because Google did not sign off on it according to an employee who I emailed about this issue. So if you don't have a iPhone or Samsung with Bixby on it DO NOT GET THESE GLASSES as none of the handsfree features will work! (which is the whole point of having them) Read more

Works great with my iPhone

“Nautica Admiral Smart Sunglasses for Men & Women - Wireless Smart Glasses with Open Ear Speakers and Microphone, Polarized UV400 Lenses - Brown Gradient (Wide)” by Lucyd, makes me feel like a Secret Agent! No one will ever know that I’m talking to someone on the phone using my stylish polarized sunglasses! 😎 This is truly cutting edge technology, which will allow any users a totally hands-free experience while talking on the phone, listening to music, podcast or news, and many more. It’s easy to use and at the same time, the polarized lens on these glasses offers excellent protection for your eyes from the sun. Definitely well worth the asking price. I highly recommend these pair of sunglasses/speaker/headphone to others. This will also make for such an excellent gift this holiday season especially, to those who are into technology. Read more

Style Meets Function

K.AsanteMarch 8, 2024

The Nautica Admiral Smart Sunglasses are a solid choice for those looking to blend style with functionality. While they perform well, I found that they didn't quite fit my head as well as I had hoped. Also, the arms are a bit thicker than traditional sunglasses, so it's not hard to tell they are smart glasses. However, despite these minor drawbacks, I still found myself enjoying the overall experience of wearing them. The smart features work well, adding a modern twist to the classic sunglass design. While the fit and design may not be perfect for everyone, they combine style and functionality in a unique way, making them a valuable addition to any wardrobe that embraces technology. Read more

Excellent

K. TaylorApril 1, 2024

Excellent. I've been testing audio sunglasses for several years now, and while the sound quality still hasn't quite reached the same level as in-ear headphones they're head and shoulders above where the tech was just a few years ago. The audio quality of these sunglasses actually surpasses the quality of the Bose Soprano frames I tested around three years ago, to give you an indication of the improvements. Even though the Bose glasses cost $100+ more than these and came packed with high end components these Lucyd frames still beat them. The glasses look great, and the temples don't look too bulky even with the speakers and batteries packed in. You could happily wear these as regular sunglasses. The connection is fairly stable. I've noticed a couple of times when the audio has dropped out momentarily, though it doesn't happen often enough to become a real problem. All in all, excellent. Read more

Not for me

KelseyApril 15, 2024

So the idea behind these glasses are great… however for me, they just did not fit. They were way too big for me and were falling off my face. They connected really well, seemed like they would have decent sound quality. My husband tried them on and they did fit him better, but they are a little bulky around the ear pieces. I would love to try these in a size that would fit me, but these just didn’t work for me. Read more
