I received size L, "light coral" color (listed wine color here) Naviskin Men's 5" shorts a few days ago. I am writing this review after my first run (~5 miles/8 km) on a hot and humid evening. The fabric is lightweight and feels good to touch with decent breathability. The moisture wicking was good. The inner mesh brief lining is pretty decent too however I don't know if it would irritate on longer runs without additional underwear. More testing is needed for that. The white lining in this colorway might turn off-white over time. I would have preferred a grey or black lining instead but the light coral color is really nice. Stitching is well done. The shorts has a 2" split on the sides to give more freedom of motion. The stitching is reinforced where the split ends. This shorts has two relatively deep side pockets. I wished they also reinforced the lower end of the pocket in a similar way however it should be OK. The zippered pocket in the back is about 5.75" x 4.25" measured from inside so it may hold a 5.5" long phone snugly (with a reasonably thin case) if necessary. At the edge of the zipper of the back pocket there is some reflective material for night runs. Another nice touch! However, I kept my phone in the side pocket during my run. The inseam for size L is 4.75". Outseam length is 17". Even though this is listed as a 5" shorts, I have some 7" shorts that are actually shorter in the outseam. Definitely, it does not look as skimpy as some 5" shorts in the market. At this moment, I cannot talk about the durability. I intend to update this review regarding the durability and the performance of the inner mesh lining on longer runs in the future. By the way, on the same day when I bought this shorts I also bought another brand shorts on Amazon that are also made in China. These two products are extremely similar: Same fabric material, same mesh liners, same back pocket (except this one has reflector strip), side pockets and almost identical dimensions (this one has a 2" split on the side). At the time of purchase this product was a bit cheaper. Update: After 4 months of use the shorts are holding up well. I have not had chafing while wearing these shorts up to half marathon distance during the summer and high humidity. I still think this is a decent product. Read more
I ordered my normal size (Medium) and these shorts fit great! I normally wear size 32-33 size jeans (for comparrison). The zipper seems a little stiff, but I am getting better with using it with just one hand, with a little practice! I like the rubber cover over the zipper clasp and that the clasp can be easily moved left or right, to assist in opening or closing. The diameter of the pocket is about 4 by 5 inches. So, while you may not get tour smart phone in there, this would be a good place to secure your bills, or a credit card or two. I am pleased with the length: not too long and not too short. They do not restrict any movement! The comfortable liner, keeps all your assets in place: No need to wear and restricting underwear! These shorts are very light! Good value for the money! Being honest I am pleasantly surprised! First, these fit pretty much as expected. I have had problems in the past with this not being the case, but these were good. If anything they are maybe very slightly on the smaller size so if you are debating between two sizes you might want to opt for the larger size - but this is only slightly so. The material feels great from a wearing standpoint, and feels great from a touch/quality standpoint as well. The pockets are nice sized. If there is any criticism I would say it is with the liner - I don't think it is particularly supportive. For me these shorts are perfectly fine with nothing underneath during normal wear (which is how I will normally use these), but for actual running you are probably going to want to wear a jock/compression shorts or something more supportive, especially if... well.... you know. Put simply, these shorts are comfy, functional, and fit better than I thought they would. They've got mesh inside, they're a good material for working out and they wash easy, and dry even easier (no dryer required). Pockets are fairly deep, so I never lose my valuables while running, even if I didn't use the zipper pocket on the back of the shorts. Zipper still works, also. Very impressed with the quality of the shorts and the value I received in purchasing them. I'll probably buy another pair in another color soon. Read more
Value for money: I run about 30 miles a week and these are my go to running shorts. They are light, soft and durable. I now have 4 pairs including my original pair I purchased nearly 3 years ago. None have worn out yet despite many miles and weekly or more frequent washings. Price is great! Read more
