My PT recommended I find a Spica Support for my Carpal Tunnel in my hand. I liked that this one had the option to remove the metal plates so that it would be more comfortable to sleep in (as she had suggested). This product cut into my skin at the base of my thumb leaving a raw red area and was incredibly uncomfortable. THIS ITEM IS NOT RETURNABLE and the customer service link on their website is BROKEN! They are not available on the weekends for customer service either. If I had noticed that the brace was not returnable I never would have bought it. This is a very personal item that would require a precise fit why would I take a chance that it would not fit correctly. the Velcro at the thumb is very sharp and not shielded in any way. I've bought two of these, one at CVS and one on Amazon. The Amazon purchased brace is smaller than the one I got at CVS, though they are identical and both labeled as universal fits-all. I am a small-boned woman. It is too tight. It causes pain from pressure creases on my wrist. I leave a gap between the edges when I pull the velcro straps to fasten it, but it is still too small. It gives good protective support, thus the 3 stars; but the aluminum stiffener are not easy to bend and shape to your wrist, and if you don't get them right, they will put pressure on your thumb and cause more pressure pain. I worked with mine several days, until I got it right. It does protect my carpal tunnel thumb really well, but being cloth-glad neoprene, it smells like the inside of a mouldy gymn bag after about 3 days. I bought this second brace to wash and rotate them. They are easy to launder, well made, very protective, but not comfortable. Read more
