New Balance Mens Made in USA 990v6 Sneakers

I had these shoes for just ten years inured before I decided they are the best running shoes I have ever had by FAR. Here are some observations. The quality of the materials is excellent, perhaps other than the shoe laces that are just standard. The fit, I wear an 11.5 wide was very nice. I would say they may run slightly large, and by that I mean length, not width. At any rate they are an excellent fit. However the premium part of these shoes for me is the density of the sole. Often shoes are described as walking on clouds but to me that means overly soft, these shoes have a firmness and give combination that is extremely comfortable for me. I’m shocked at how good they feel. One small note just to be fair, the insoles in these are suprizingly minimal. I’ll probably replace them with something else. Also the drop, that’s the difference in the height of the heel and the forefoot feels like 0 which I like a lot, some running shoes have a huge drop and feel like you are walking downhill. These are the most finicky shoes I've ever had in terms of the lacing. It's a fine line between tight enough to feel secure and too tight, causing pain on the top of my foot where the top lace hole is. You can see several other reviewers have had the same issue. Not sure exactly the cause. One issue may be that the tongue has folds on the bottom of it that run the length of both sides of it. Another may be the plastic bit that encompasses the top two eyelets (note: I am not using the runner's loop eyelet. That was even more painful). However, once I get the laces dialed in they're pretty comfortable. Trouble is I need to adjust them several times while walking. It's not an issue I noticed while trying them on at home. It only shows up on extended walks. One "plus" for these shoes is that they come in wide sizes, so the toe box part of the shoe is very comfortable for me. I've had them for over a month now, but I'm hoping that they will break in more and be better, but at this point I am lamenting spending 200 bucks on these. If you are considering them then it's probably best to buy these shoes from a retailer that'll refund you even after wearing them awhile. Read more
