The story and characters are engaging and funny. Choices are more important than others in terms of influencing a character's progress. Read more

Fun but snag it when it's on sale.

New Tales from the Borderlands - The story was interesting enough that I wanted to keep going once a chapter ended. The characters were built up pretty well, not as great as the previous tales game, but still good. I loved the robot, he was my fav, and I was a little disappointed he wasn't a playable character. There are a few "mini games" which take zero skill but one of them is kind of just an ongoing joke throughout the story, and I found that pretty amusing. Lots of humor in this, very on target for the Borderlands franchise, a few jokes that did fall flat or were a bit awkward but overall got some good laughs out of it. I never really felt bored with the game, but I do feel it's pacing is a bit weird at times. I enjoyed the cameos from old characters. One thing that I did feel throughout the playthrough was the choices you make don't have as much of an impact on the outcome of the game as the previous one. Overall though my complaints are pretty minimal I had a good time watch playing through it. If you find it for $20, it's worth getting if you enjoy more of a point and click type game or interactive movie. Also a nice bonus that the original Tales is included with. Read more

It's OK

PrazJuly 25, 2023

Not nearly as good as the first game, but this one still has its moments. The best addition is probably the Vaultlanders collectibles. The best character is easily L0U13. Stapleface is probably second-best. The writing for the playable characters is weirdly bad, particularly for Anu Read more

Great for Telltale fans

B. J. SparksNovember 1, 2022

If you're a fan of the old Telltale games and have felt the absence of any releases from the studio since its closure and resurrection, New Tales from the Borderlands fills the gap nicely. One thing I appreciate about this game and its predecessor, besides just iterating on the point-n-click adventure genre, is their ability to make the player laugh in a way that is actually intended (i.e., not funny because the game is in some way egregiously broken, glitched or awful). The writing is sharp and witty, and some of the Tediore goons, as well as Brock, the talking gun with a touch of existentialism, shine through with hilarious dialogue. I think Anu and Octavio needed a little more depth as two of the three main characters; however, the game is fairly short (maybe ten to twelve hours), so this doesn't hurt the story much. Fran, the other third, is well polished, outrageous and relatable all at once; L0U13, Octavio's assassin bot, adds a surprising amount of mirth and substance to the crew. The game's greatest shortcoming, perhaps, is drawing to a somewhat contrived conclusion in its final minutes; however, I will also say that it's all appropriately ridiculous for a Borderlands title. Point and click adventure, "walking simulator" and narrative enthusiasts will like this one. For gamers who fall outside of these niches, it's something that will be worth playing once priced at a substantial discount. Read more

New and perfect condition, but wrong region. (Twice. Seller, change the items icon.)

SalJanuary 3, 2025

As many reviews I’ve seen, most are related with mine; product thumbnail has the US ESRB rating, but the physical product is different. Mine is the EU PEGI. A sticker placed on the package prompting it will play in English, but I’m not willing to find out that it won’t and I can’t get a refund for a brand new item still in the manufacturers packaging. I understand that there are regional options that can be selected to play to match those required regions, but as I said, I am not willing to find out. And I am not going to go through the effort to change my PlayStations region every time I want to play it then switch to something else maybe not even thirty minutes later. Edit: happened twice.
