He had no problems doing so, because the seat is stable and doesn't slide around easily. The deflector could be taller, but it works pretty well. My daughter loves paw patrol and really likes this seat. One thing that could be an issue for some is the rubbery pee guard. I would say it is essential for both boys and girls or pee can go all over the seat. I’ve experienced this. If you’re placing your kid on the potty then it’s fine but once my daughter used steps to get on it herself, she had to learn to scoot back behind it or it would get caught under her and then pee would really go everywhere.
